She's got the right game to be ranked way higher than she is now, though.

Even though she's ridiculously overrated, Tatiana Golovin, for example, was a better player.

No, Meghann Shaughnessy, who peaked at number 11, was WAY better, with several victories against Venus, who was playing pretty well.

her serve will get destroyed by the power hitters she didnt hold serve for 5x in a row? And was having big problems until stosur went in choke mode

she gets some good wins here and there but can have horrible losses like last week against Keys..

I know, but why hasn't this thread been started when she reached the Semis then?
And this particular case emerged because of her beating Mugsur, not reaching Slam SF.
Besides, the answer for the OP questions is rather not in my opinion.
There's been a handfull of players that I'd put above Jie that didn't enter the top10 either.

Maybe cause people were expecting her to break into Top 10 after winning that amount of points, so there wouldn't be much of a point to create a thread like this

Her hand-eye coordination is brilliant  . But any decent top server can feast on that serve and she will struggle any time you get the ball consistently high (naturally). Still, I don't see why those flaws would be any worse than those of, say Sara Errani. Cibulkova hits a bigger ball but lacks a brain and has no feel. Zheng is good at the net. So she's certainly a strong candidate.
I think though that it takes too much energy to play like her, moving so fast and constantly pushing yourself to pounce on balls before they get high, changing directions on a dime etc. |
