Re: Shortest WTA match?
The match was not 33 min, it was 52.
Graf d. Zvereva 6-0 6-0 1988 Roland Garros F in 32 minutes is shortest I can recall.

Re: Shortest WTA match?
Kim must have had a really short one somewhere. Won her early matches very quickly and easily plus she was very fast between points.

Re: Shortest WTA match?
Kim's demolition of Safina at the AO couldn't have been more than 45 minutes. I also remember Serena bitchslapping Capriati in 45 minutes at Wimbledon one year. But yeah, the '88 FO final is by the shortest I can recall (before Li's match today, that is).

To be fair, they didn't have television changeovers back then (90 seconds after games 3, 5, 7, etc., two minutes between sets if there's no bathroom break), nor did players take as much time between points as they do now. Still, if you went to the concession stand or the bathroom after the first game of that Graf-Zvereva match, you probably missed match point.

Actually the shortest match in women's tennis history was Nicola Slater defeating Andrea Paredes, the Chilean transsexual, 6-0 6-0 in 25 minutes in some ITF tournament in South America

Re: Shortest WTA match?
According to Wikip:
Margaret Court won the 1963 Eastern Grass Court Championships crown in a record 24-minute match.

Re: Shortest WTA match?
I'm sure if a list was compiled Steffi and Monica would feature several times in the top 100 - ridiculously efficient and ruthless!
