Re: Three Hands #1 - Australian Open [NEW GAME]

Rules

Choose
- Each participant must choose 6 different players participating in the tournament before main draw begins.
- The 6 players must be arranged in the fashion where they are in 3 hands (groups).
- If you choose a qualifier before qualifying is finished, identify the draw spot. Q1 = first Q on the draw
- You may not select a LL as one of your players. If the Q chosen on the list happens to be a LL, the next Q down the list will be used.
- You may not change your picks once you have posted.

Hands
- Hand 1 = 1 players
- Hand 2 = 2 players
- Hand 3 = 3 players
- 1 back up player may be listed for each player in case there's a withdrawal. No duplicates.

Points Earned
- Each hand receives points according to the following chart

Code:
    Size W F SF QF R16 R32 R64 R128

128 Draw 7 6 5 4 3 2 1 0
 64 Draw 6 5 4 3 2 1 0
 32 Draw 5 4 3 2 1 0

          W F SF RR3 RR4

 RR 4 3 2 1 0
- Chosen players who received BYE and lost in their first match will receive 0 points.
- Each hand will receive points according to the the round each player chosen lost in the tournament, though
- Hand 2 must beat Hand 1, or it's invalid. If it's a valid hand, points (x2).
- Hand 3 must beat Hands 1 & 2, or it's invalid. If it's a valid hand, points (x3).
- Perfect Hands: Receiving best possible points before hand bonuses applied will have total points (x2).
- No perfect hands bonuses will be awarded for tournaments in RR format.
- Invalid hands receive 0 points.

Tournament Tie Break (in case there are participants who receive equal points)
- Number of valid hands, if equal
- Total points acquired in Hand 2 & Hand 3, if equal
- Total points acquired in Hand 3, if equal
- Total points acquired in Hand 2, if equal
- Whoever posted their hands first

Re: Three Hands #1 - Australian Open [NEW GAME]

To Play

Post
- Simply list your three hands clearly and identify your back ups before main draw begins.
- Back ups are not necessary if undesired.
- We will use Brisbane 2013 as an example.

Hand 1
- Pavlyuchenkova (Errani)

Hand 2
- Kerber (Stosur)
- Kvitova (Vinci)

Hand 3
- Azarenka (Lisicki)
- Sharapova (Wozniacki)
- S.Williams (Stephens)

Score
- A scoreboard will be updated by the manager

Hand 1
> 4

Hand 2
> 2+1 = 3
> Invalid = 3 x 0 = 0

Hand 3
> Wozniacki replaces Sharapova
> 3+0+5 = 8
> Valid = 8 x 3 = 24

Total Scored: 4+0+24 = 28 Points

Perfect Hands
- Usually it's 19 points for 32 draws for perfect hands.
- However, in this tournament it will be 18 points because no one can pick Tsurenko beforehand.
- So, best possible = total points x2 = 92 points!
- Perfect Hands may have multiple combinations so points awarded could be different.

Hand 1
- Stephens
> 2

Hand 2
- Kerber
- Hantuchova
> 2+2 = 4
> Valid = 4 x 2 = 8

Hand 3
- S.Williams
- Pavlyuenkova
- Azarenka
> 5+4+3 = 12
> Valid = 12 x 3 = 36

Allow me to explain.

Basically participants will be competing against each other based on the 6 players chosen.

Each participant must place their 6 players into 3 separate hands.
- Hand 1 with 1 player
- Hand 2 with 2 players
- Hand 3 with 3 players

To earn points, players chosen must win rounds. Each round gives a point.

For AO, it will be:
- R128 = 0
- R64 = 1
- R32 = 2
- R16 = 3
- QF = 4
- SF = 5
- F = 6
- W = 7

Valid hands will earn points. This rule is here to make sure not everyone picks top players in all hands.
- First hand is always valid.
- Second hand must beat first hand to be valid.
- Third hand must beat first and second hand to be valid.
- For second (x2) and third hand (x3), bonus points will be awarded when it's valid.

Perfect Hands will earn double amount of total points earned.
- On top of hand bonuses.

Let's say coolfish1103, Chilenaitor and alexjones played this game in AO 2012...

coolfish1103

Hand 1
- Li Na
= 3 points

Hand 2
- V.Azarenka
- K.Clijsters
= 7+5 = 12 points
> Valid hand cause 12 > 3 so points (x2) = 24 points

Hand 3
- S.Williams
- P.Kvitova
- M.Sharapova
= 3+5+6 = 14 points
> Invalid hand cause 14 < 3+12 so points (x0) = 0 points

Total points earned: 3+24+0 = 27 points

Chilenaitor

Hand 1
- P.Kvitova
= 5 points

Hand 2
- K.Clijsters
- Li Na
= 5+3 = 8 points
> Valid hand cause 8 > 5 so points (x2) = 16 points

Hand 3
- S.Williams
- M.Sharapova
- V.Azarenka
= 3+6+7 = 16 points
> Valid hand cause 16 > 8+5 so points (x3) = 48 points

Total points earned: 5+16+48 = 69 points

alexjones

Hand 1
- V.Azarenka
= 7 points

Hand 2
- K.Clijsters
- S.Stosur
= 5+0 = 5 points
> Invalid hand cause 5 < 7 so points (x0) = 0 points

Hand 3
- C.Wozniacki
- S.Williams
- M.Sharapova
= 4+3+6 = 13 points
> Valid hand cause 13 > 7+5 so points (x3) = 39 points

Total points earned: 7+0+39 = 46 points

Players will then be ranked based on total points earned. Tie-break rule will step in when needed.

Code:
1. Chilenaitor - 69 points
2. alexjones - 46 points
3. coolfish1103 - 27 points
Ranking points will then be awarded based on a multiplier and the points earned in the tournament.

Had Chilenatior's hand become a perfect hand, points earned by Chilenaitor will be doubled (x2) to 138 points. Perfect hand requires the tournament winner, finalist, semifinalists, and 2 of the 4 quarter finalists being selected. If there's any LLs in the final 8 then they will be skipped.

Let me know if there's any clarifications needed.
