While it's a cool career accomplishment to go back-to-back 6-0, 6-0 matches, I wonder how helpful playing two complete stiffs is to Maria. She's about to face a massive upgrade in quality and resistance in the next round. I do wonder how Maria will handle some adversity and deal with losing games after having such an easy time. She'll have to be ready to make adjustments and test that mental toughness. Now we'll begin to see if her offseason work has paid off.

I'm not excited at all. I would be excited if this wasn't a freaking 3rd Round match between my favorite players, both playing good tennis. It sucks.

Maria has plenty of experience and knows what she has to do. Im sure she will be fine.

fellow masha stans who love venus gets sooo mch respect from me! but I agree, it's sad one of them has to lose. definitely rooting for Maria but will still be gutted either way

I did like that in her post-match ESPN interview, she was in no mood to pat herself on the back for winning 24 games in a row. She was all business and had the intense look of someone who understands that the tough battles are ahead.
