Re: AO 2013: The Bridesmaid-Bride Double. The Sequel.
I was OK with the loss immediately afterward, but now I'm kinda disappointed again just because I hate when there's still matches to be played and Maria's not in them. She made me greedy after those 9 finals last year.
Do people think she'll make the trip to Doha? I mean she has to be back in the US by now/tomorrow, and it doesn't make too much sense to go to the Middle East just for one week if she isn't playing Dubai.

Look at those SFs she played as Semipova against Momo, Juju Heng and Kimothy, they had to bring their best form to tame that resilience and fight from Maria.
Getting all sad now
And what's with this Vika hate I don't love her myself but c'mon, dragging fellow SS posters down because of her? You guys need a drink
Agreed.
Maria has huge problems with Serena, Vika and Na and she will probably have to beat atleast 1 of them to win the French Open again this year. But clay is clearly Maria best surface so she can win the French again. She will also be in form for the French whereas Maria was not tennis tough for the Oz semi against Na and it showed. Masha cruising so easily her first 5 matches in Melbourne ending up costing her in the semi's. But that's tennis.

I can't watch the women's final either cause I have french from 9.30 to 12.30 but if Li wins it I'll definitely watch the replay if not than I'll probably try to delete this whole tournament from my memory Come on Li you can do it save tennis
Re: AO 2013: The Bridesmaid-Bride Double. The Sequel.
^ Yeah I'm definitely not waking up at 3:30 in the morning for this hell . I'll watch a replay only if Li wins. The thought of Vika winning her second slam just makes me wanna vomit
Re: AO 2013: The Bridesmaid-Bride Double. The Sequel.
I'm not saying this about Azarenka just because I dislike her but I really think she doesn't deserve to win this slam she was really lucky with the draw and if it had been a different one she probably'd been out by now. I think Li should win this she played much better throughout the tournament and won against good players. Needless to say that she was amazing against Maria, I just hope she can bring this in the final too and not have a complete meltdown
Re: AO 2013: The Bridesmaid-Bride Double. The Sequel.
Honestly, I don't care who wins. I won't mind if Vika wins TBH.

Well, because I'm the old fart that I am I have a somewhat different perspective on these things. In my younger days 'incidents' like these wouldn't even be noticed because we were used to much worse. Players are much, much friendlier to each other today than in the past. Jimmy Connors has said that he can't understand this. He said that he couldn't have imagined giving McEnroe a hug after beating him. "I would rather have hit him on the head with my racquet to make sure that it was really over!"
Sure, Connors is an extreme example, but he and McEnroe and Nastase were just as typical for their time as the 'nice guys' of today are. And compared to what I was used to seeing and hearing in my youth the likes of Federer, Murray, Nadal and Djokovic look like members of a church choir. That's why most of todays so-called incidents really get nothing more than a shrug of my shoulders because there's always the thought in the back of my mind of, "you should have been around when McEnroe or Connors did this or that." And incidents, REAL incidents, that is, were so common in their matches that crowds used to be kinda disappointed if they had to go home without someone losing his cool somewhere.
Just a few from "the good old days"

There was no such thing as an exho with Connors and McEnroe. Those guys truly hated each others guts. They seem to get along pretty well these days though.
