Re: Danish Delight - Caroline Wozniacki thread - vol 6

I think this is Caro's biggest match so far this year. To make the IW final for 3 of the last 4 years. Going for her first Tier I final in 2 years.
I saw Kerber-Wickmayer and it was close. Caro has a very good chance. She has to keep fighting, keep her focus and confidence.
Dont let a few points get her upset. Stay positive and focused.
Very winnable, and this could start the comeback

Agree with Goldenlox about this being Caro's biggest moment of the year so far.Even bashers can't complain too much about the WD victory b/c Caro still has to beat two highly-ranked opponents if she wants to get the IW title

Anyway, the match is scheduled for 8:30 PM for me which means I'll actually be able to watch it. Not sure if that's a good or bad thing though..

Kerber is not in peak 2012 form, but is a lot better than she was in the middle east if you saw those performances. It's pretty hard to judge exactly because her only televised match was vs Wickmayer, Kerber was on the defensive for most of that match, but she was always going to force Wickmayer to implode. Vs Caro, Kerber tends to play patient and wait for her moment to attack, but there's nothing to really go on to know if she is in the form to do that.

This is a massive match for both, I don't know who that benefits mentally either though.

Re: Danish Delight - Caroline Wozniacki thread - vol 6

The Tennis Channel coverage Friday is really messed up. If anyone can understand it, I would appreciate knowing what times the WTA semi-finals are going to be on in Arizona. ESPN2 is sticking their nose into coverage which makes everything more difficult to understand. I think coverage will be delayed for one of the women's semi-finals.

Well,I don't ever cross the border near Arizona even though I have blond hair and blue eyes because,as you may have heard,Arizona isn't a very friendly place for mis paisanos. However,to lend a hand to a fellow Caro fan,I can tell you that Caro's match is scheduled to start on the Stadium 1 court at 'not before 6:30',local time.Unless every single preceding match is a marathon,Caro shouldn't have to wait on anyone tomorrow.

According to what I've heard,Arizona doesn't move its clocks forward in springtime so,if that's true,it'll be on the same clock as IW.I even checked on line a few moments ago to confirm that but, even if I inadvertently went to a bad info source,it'll be no later than 7:30 in Arizona when Caro's match is slated to begin.....Oh,and enjoy the match

The paradox with these withdrawals are that now we again will see that Vika hasn't lost a mach in 2013 - come on. If you say that a loss through a walkover is not a loss - hey if you win a match which give you the right to play next round you loose that match if you can't play - quite simple. Else you have to say that a win through a wo is not a win - come on ridiculous. In badminton you win by a walkover - you win the right to play the next game as well as you loose the right. So now Vika has lost twice in 2013 - period.

If Caro's offense were a bit more threatening, I don't think players would be as willing to be patient.

As it stands now, Caro is on a 3 match losing streak with Kerber, Aga, and Kvitova plus a two match losing streak with Serena and Sharapova. Caro's prospects for going deep in big tournaments and moving up a lot in the rankings depends on her being able to figure out a way to stop being owned by much of the top 10.

I'm just guessing how long it will take him to start to get at Redfool if Vika's form drops this year.

I agree. A withdrawal is basically giving up hence a loss.

Azarenka has withdrawn. Lucky Caroline into Indian Wells SF !

SF vs Kerber. Should be a close match. Angie leads Head To Head 3-2. Good luck

Kerber is the best draw of all of them though. Caro should have won their last match really, she was looking like the player who was going to come out top for much of the 3rd set, and unless she has been playing well within herself Kerber is not in Beijing 2012 form. You won't get many chances in a Tier I event where the only top 10 player you have to play before the final is Kerber. Obviously you can pretty much flip everything around and put it in context to be be pro-Kerber stuff as well, hence you are left with a huge match for both players, which both players will be fully aware of, meaning whoever handles the occasion best mentally will likely find themselves in the final on Sunday.
