Re: Danish Delight - Caroline Wozniacki thread - vol 6

To me her ForeHand looked better than her Backhand today & really mostly this year but the problem with that is other Players FH is better than hers and her Backhand was Beard & Butter shot, she also as of late make big shot selection, & struggle too put away points & her serve need work (even through I like she went back too her old serve motion). On top all that she low on confidence. I hoping she get an Coach soon

I read that, also read she played fairly aggressive...yet she's not there mentally...she was the strongest girl mentally, being clutch all the time, now she is losing every match by wasting tons of chances
She even had a shot to top 8 here...well thanks to her form and schedule, she'll be lucky to finish the year in the top 15...i guess she's out of top 40 without iw and ao

I really think that the new coach won't come soon enough, she is lost and piotr has no map either

Re: Danish Delight - Caroline Wozniacki thread - vol 6

I told you before she will not win one match in Toronto - everbody is laughing..and now? 5 weeks holiday and start practice three days before is not the right way for winning matches. Could be down on #13 after this week.

Me neither. I almost expected her to lose. Any win comes as a surprise to me these days.

Re: Danish Delight - Caroline Wozniacki thread - vol 6

This was in a tournament without Vika or Maria, who will both be back for next week in Cincy.
Caro's level of tennis isnt good enough to win a match anymore. Even on hardcourt
I guess she just has to accept this, since its 2 years now and there's no improvement, and she doesnt want a coach.
So this is it. Players like Cirstea are better fighters.

Re: Danish Delight - Caroline Wozniacki thread - vol 6

Dreadful stuff. I thought Cirstea would be made for Caro. She's pretty slow, she makes tons of unforced errors, and she's pretty tactically inept, yet despite showing all those things, she still manages to out tough Caro in 3. How often does this happen nowadays? Caro used to win nearly every one of these tough 3 setters, now she loses nearly every one.

Caro really needs to decided where she is going. She has the racket she wants, claims she is motivated, with the coaching setup she wants, on the surface she wants to be on, and yet nothing, a premier 5 first match loss. How long can you go on accepting such mediocrity? Something has to change and soon, otherwise this is likely to be her career from here on in.

The way Caro is going she's going to struggle to stay top 20 early next year, let and out top 10. Of her points earned for the year (2075), 1405 comes from Australian Open, Doha, Dubai, Indian Wells which she will have to defend early next year. If she can't log up points between now and the rest of the season on her best surface she is in big, big trouble.

Re: Danish Delight - Caroline Wozniacki thread - vol 6

There were few positives and many more negatives in this loss.

She did show some good fight, battling back from 3-5 down in the second set to the brink of victory. It was almost like Caro of old, who refused to lose any match without a fight. Caro was once one of the toughest players to put away in a match. Caro also showed glimpses of the point construction she is capable of producing when at her best, moving the ball around and patiently waiting for the opening.

Now, the negatives. She was in control of some of the points, but just couldn't put Cirstea away in those points. It was like Cirstea was giving her a taste of Caro's old medicine, getting Caro's best shots back and then counter-punching. What Caro did (or didn't do) on match point was regrettable. She waited for Cirstea to make the error, and Sorana burned her both times with backhand winners. And then, it was an absolute horror show in the tiebreak, in which she was bageled. I couldn't believe that was Caro I was watching.

I reluctantly watched the beginning of the third set, but we all knew what would happen, so I turned it off. Then I sadly cried myself to sleep (ok, not really, but I was depressed).

Its more than just a slump. We've been talking about her falling level of play for 2 full years, going back to when Jimmie48 was posting here.

That she fell off, like Jankovic and Ivanovic surprised me, but more surprising to me is that she doesnt seem to want a coach. Its almost like she's accepted that the good days are over. Now she trains at home, shows up and loses, and on we go. Its the same thing over and over.
Its more than a slump. This is her form. Its from a player who was winning the most matches and the most titles of anyone on the tour.

Was I the only one that actually watched the whole match? :P

She had her moments of brilliance. At one point, she even resorted to total ballbashing.
She played a good match overall. She just didn't play well when she really needed to.
