It's true she ended 2012 on a good note with the Moscow title and wins against Li Na and Stosur. But the level of her play was no better than now and her performances was just as inconsistent. I think this is what we can expect from Caro in the future. 1-2 good tournaments followed by a bad tournament. But hopefully she'll manage to go a bit deeper in the good tournaments...
It depends what you are looking at. In terms of points collected, 2012 and 2013 are almost identical. But in terms of match play by this time she had beaten Serena, should have beaten Radwanska, had chances against Sharapova, had chances to be in a 3rd set with Clijsters (who looked exhausted). This year against the best players she's pretty much been rolled over. In that time frame its also come quite apparent she's picked up some mental baggage vs the very top players.

Re: Danish Delight - Caroline Wozniacki thread - vol 6

Why would repeating 2012 be a positive? We are discussing a player who used to be an elite player, winning Tier I's and in 4 hardcourt slam semis.
Now heading to clay, winning any title in 2013 seems far away, forget about contending at majors right now.

Re: Danish Delight - Caroline Wozniacki thread - vol 6

Caro is #2 seed here, so maybe she can get more into an IW mode.
She lost her 1st set 4 times in a row, so thats something she can improve on.
Also maybe play Julia G again.
This clay season cant be worse than 2012. Maybe she can improve, because French Open, Madrid and Rome will be there every year

Re: Danish Delight - Caroline Wozniacki thread - vol 6

Ok draw for Caro. Based on the draw she should make it to at least the semis. Losing to Goerges yet again is not ok.

Good luck Caro.

Yeah,I know that cynics are gonna complain that it was GREEN clay and not red,but SSE is a Spaniard, and Spanish gals usually cite clay as their favorite surface....I'll call this no worse than a halfway-impressive victory for Caroline in that she didn't just win but delivered an ass-kicking

And SSE beat Schiavone in the first round who's a real claycourt specialist. A claycourt specialist who's basically done, but still a good win for SSE. Caroline played well today.

Yeah, and things just got easier for Caroline with Lisicki getting eliminated.I'm sure that even Serena is breathing a sigh of relief that she doesn't have to face such a bastion of mental toughness. For now,at least,Caro has the edge on her fellow Polish expatriates(though she's not, technically,an expatriate since she was born in Denmark).

Re: Danish Delight - Caroline Wozniacki thread - vol 6

It was a very nice match, even though she struggled a lot to find the pace off the forehand and at time she couldn't but hope for Soler to miss a shot

Re: Danish Delight - Caroline Wozniacki thread - vol 6

I think eventually Caro should do what Maria does & take a break after Miami. You want to be ready for Madrid, Rome & Paris
Since she lost so early in Miami & she's staying in the US for golf, this is probably a good idea. And if she plays Goerges, Stosur, Serena, its a decent field for a tier 2

Yeah, her serve does look a bit different. Well, the beginning stance atleast.

She hit 111mph when she hit her second ace!

Let's just hope that Piotr never shows early dementia symptoms and tells Caroline that she could return to #1 by wearing a Bozo the Clown nose on court

so our only hope is that Piotr himself realizes that he must step aside, what are the chances of that happening, I think- zero!

So if Caro is still stuck in the bottom part of the top 10 or even lower ranked in about a year or two, she would keep Piotr as her coach? That sounds like a lack of ambition or hunger from Caro.

Without that she will always be on the back foot rendering the discussion moot again. It's obvious she can't find a balance of power and control with it at the moment, and rest assured that any changes you see in her stokes in six months time, she will have started working on six months ago. She doesn't bring new things to the court before she is 100% on top of them, which together with the continual tension changes suggests problems with the stick or plans afoot. Anyone who thinks she isn't spending enough time on technical preperation really doesn't have a grasp of the training she does. Ask Manix.dk .
Exactly - but particularly the part in bold. The idea that she should take liberties and risks with her fitness preparation scares the life out of me. Because bad as her game is now compared to 2 years ago - things could go downhill a lot further if she risked her fitness and there was any deterioration there.
