the first TF Open - Spring 2013, Bavaria
We are very proud to present you the very first edition of TF Open of tennis, to be held in Bavaria in the forthcoming Spring. The event will feature a signle and a doubles competition to take place throughout the weekend and a players' party on saturday night, in the middle of the two-days competition.
If the details can seem a little nebulous we apology in advance, but you might see the difficulty of organizing such an event being already busy with everyday life. In any case, the location will be chosen in the German region of Bavaria because of its centrality in Europe and therefore a way easier access for most of the European posters, as for now we are considering the cities of Augsburg and Deggendorf, but we might take into consideration suggestions or other ideas.
As for the dates, it will certainly be held on a weekend, likely to fall between the end of April and Early May so that the University Students won't be stressed by imminent exams.
We'd like you, willing to join that fun moment, to sign in here as for now even without being certain of coming. We will look for a cheap but cosy stay and possibily even cheap solutions for transports (if anyone can use a car we can do some on the road picking up etc.).
For any question or suggestion post here or PM the organizers: Adrian, Matthias and me.
Going:
Adrian
Mitten Kitten
Jarl_02
joe87
flareon
MikBs
Maybe coming:
Matthias
Curcubeu
Silver White

Re: the first TF Open - Spring 2013, Bavaria
why hopelessly getting lost in the middle of Germany when I have a big house with the Mediterranean Sea 10 minutes away, and plenty of nice outdoors tennis hardcourts around?

and you would host a bunch of unknown random internet crazy people there?
I have chances to make it in Tarvisio, in the heart of the alps with few money and a terrific scenario, but I guess Bavaria is in the middle of Europe and well served by highways and trains

Re: the first TF Open - Spring 2013, Bavaria
Hey Guys
Some facts about both locations:
Deggendorf is a small town (33.000) in lower Bavaria, it's my home town and it's very beautiful there.
The advantage there is that I'm member of the local tennis club 5km away from Deggendorf, where we have 7! clay-courts in really good shape. Therefore I could work out a special price for our tournament, so that everyone can afford it (in fact, there aren't many people out there, even during the week-end, so we could easly book 3 and more courts just for us) 4 would be even better...furthermore, we could make a BBQ out there in the evening, as there is all equipment we would need for it
There aren't many hotels around or in Deggendorf, but we could easily camp out there, like the youth does during there youth-camp in summer (or we could sleep in the club's house if it is too cold)
Disadvantage: no direct indoor-courts, we would have to play in Deggendorf and there we have only 2 indoor-courts, which are quite expensive; there is the possibility to move to another city for indoor courts (hengersberg, 15km away) which would be cheaper, but the indoor-courts are quite crowded during weekends (Both indoor facilities are modern and really new )

Downtown

Danube

Elypso

Metten

the courts, it's a very old pic, but I can't find newer ones
Augsburg is the 3rd biggest city in Bavaria with roughly 1/4 Mio people. It's a bit more pricy than Deggendorf and I'm not directly a memeber of a tennis club here. But I'm member of the volleyball club Haunstetten, which has as well a tennis sector and therefore 11! clay courts and 3 indoor-courts, which is an huge advantage during spring, when the weather tends to be
The disadvantage here would be the costs, because I don't know anyone from the tennis sector and therefore we would have to pay for sure a lot more amount of money than in Deggendorf Housing wouldn't be a huge problem here; you could sleep at my home or in any hotel/motel here

Downtown

Mozart's house

courts
The courts on Google-maps

we could also play beach-tennis and/or beachvolleyball
Public transport:
Highway A3 and A92 go directly to Deggendorf, you can also take the train or come by ship
The airport Munich is roughly an hour away from Deggendorf, by train you need about 1 1/2h.
Highway A8 leads you directly to Augsburg, you can as well take the train (all ICE, IC from the north and west go through Augsburg). Munich main station is only 40 minutes away, so if you come from the south, there are no problems as well.
Airport Munich is as well roughly an hour away from Augsburg.
For our friends from GB: you can also fly with RyanAir to Munich-Memmingen and take the train/bus from there to Augsburg (~1 1/2h)

of course it is a long trip and everything, but maybe you can find someone to share the travel with, there are a lot of dutch posters that's just a hint, it's not much less of a journey for me, but I hope i'll find austrian or slovene posters to make it with.

Have a look at my first post in here
I would organize transportation from the airport(s) if enough people come by plane

I think I would win, but I am not in Europe at that time
Even if I was, I would be in Estonia

I really think it's a fun and great idea. And i actually would really like to come.
But it won't work out for me. I'm fine for the weekend obviously. But in April/May i'm at internship 5 days in a week, teaching my own elementary class alone. There's no way i will have some free time
GL with it! Hope enough people will show up
Edit: unless it's during holidays for me
