Favourite top 100 tennis player- Group 5
Saw this on MTF. It's off season, and we are all pretty bored (maybe ) So i thought i'd make this tournament. A new idea and i don't know, you may like it
I know we have the list one, and i'm not trying to take anything away from that one. But this is done in a different way, and we may get different results.
It works pretty simular to the Hottest player tournament, but this time it's favourite player. The Top 100 players have been divided into 10 groups. Players from each group have been taken randomly, with Top 10 players being "seeded" players, to avoid them colliding in the first round.
First 4 players from each group move to the The Quarter Finals, for a total of 40 players. Then, again, 4 random different groups of 10, and the best 5 this time will advance To the semi finals. There will be 20 players standing, and divided into two groups of 10. 5 advance again, and they will be the 10 players in the final. Ther player with the most votes in the final will win.
I hope that was easy to understand.
The polls will be multiple choice, so if 2 or 3 of your favourite or well liked players end up in 1 group, you can vote for all of them to go through. To avoid strategic voting (where people will vote for everyone except their most hated player), you can only vote for the amount of players that will head through (in this round 4 and 5 in the later rounds). I can see who you vote for, so if you vote for more than 4 players in this round, your votes will not be counted, as will fake account votes.
The poll will be closed midweek, so vote fast
Group 5
1. (5) Kerber, Angelique
2. Kirilenko, Maria
3. Paszek, Tamira
4. Schiavone, Francesca
5. Halep, Simona
6. Cetkovska, Petra
7. Bertens, Kiki
8. Hercog, Polona
9. Johansson, Mathilde
10. Voegele, Stefanie

First group I've felt necessary to have a mutliple (vote). Kerber and Kiri.

My plea for Petra from the hottest thread kind of is relevant now because it's about likability. http://www.tennisforum.com/showpost....5&postcount=21
Btw, sorry if I come across as zealot-ish, I just think Petra is undermeasured on the tour cause she's quiet and keeps to herself. Even her twitter is set to locked. And she accepted my follower request so she is open to fans following her, just not random people.
Apart from Petra, Angie, Fran and Tamira get my vote.

Last year I found out that her French skills are impressive as well.

How did I manage not to vote for Angie?
Other than her, I like Cetkovska, Paszek and Hercog from this thread.

One article from a French journalist I read referred to it as "heavily-accented French"... which I thought was a bit rude. She moved when she was 20 so of course it's not going to be perfect.

Wow, no! I mean, I heard her speak in French and it was nearly flawless. Just a small cute accent. I don't know who this journalist is, but I do wish I spoke Czech as good as she speaks French.

Oh here's the article http://www.ontennis.com/news/young,-...etra-cetkovska
Quote:

The 23 year-old is currently ranked No77 in the world, but has not yet broken through into the winners’ circle. Her plan is to make a name for herself on the circuit and “be the best I can be: 10th, 20th or 50th, I do not know how far I can go,” she says, in heavily-accented French. “I dream of winning a Grand Slam title, but I want to be careful because I know things can change very quickly in tennis.”

The journalist name is Eric Frosio. Is he known in France?

French journalists shouldn't be allowed to make any comments on anyone's foreign languages skills anyways.
