Re: Who will be able to defend her slam title in 2013?
the lack of any decent claycourter sets Masha as a favourite again
still I believe that the only one sure of the title is Serena in Wimbledon, she can only lose it herself

That is quite the joke. This is Sharapova, not Henin on clay.

So now anyone who defended a title is 70% likely to do it. Sharapova has NEVER defended a slam title anywhere. That isnt to say she couldnt and might not do it, but 70% chance hell no, not on this planet. Even if she were the favorite that would probably only give her 20%, as the field on clay is too wide open now for anyone to have more than that. Henin her prime was only about 55-60% likely to win the French each year, and prime Henin >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> prime Sharapova on clay. Speaking of jokes, the Rome final this year yeah was pretty much just that, an epic joke, and fodder for the bashers of womens tennis today.

it's not like Sharapova is new Henin , it's more like almost all current players are not favourites vs Sharapova on red clay , except Serena for whom it's hard to reach later rounds of RG
and Henin in her prime had 90% chances for winning RG

Re: Who will be able to defend her slam title in 2013?
AO Vika 25%
FO Masha 40%
WI Serena 50%
USO Serena 40%
If percentages appear to be a bit low, the're not actually. A percentage of 40 makes those players the top fave by a considerable margin to win the tournament while 50% means that she's the overwhelming favorite. 25% sounds more modest, but it still means that in this case there is only one player that I'd give a better chance. And a lot can and will happen throughout the course of a season. Injuries, sudden loss of form, someone else doing a lot better than we're expecting now, etc... Considering all those things saying half a year beforehand or more that someone has a 40-50% chance of winning something is stretching it actually.

Re: Who will be able to defend her slam title in 2013?
i really see Serena winning AO and Wimbly. something about the USO and Serena, that it makes Serena very tight during the last stages of the event that it is very hard to trust her on that Slam. i think Azarenka or Sharapova might win USO. Well French, who knows, maybe Petrova, Errani, Vinci, no one really knows who will win that slam, and by this time very few cares who wins the French, it has become so random, for the sake of the slam i hope the like of Stosur, Serena, Li, Ivanovic, Sharapova even Schiavone wins it just to set a real leader in clay.

No! It is incredibly fun to watch someone with a supreme serve serve supremely, whether man, woman, or even your fave.
Hopefully, we will see supreme Serena next season.
