Peak Pierce showed up on clay again, albeit not at a Slam. Her run in Charleston 2000 was ridiculous.

Pity she didn't win the title. In a way Stosur was the same at the 2010 French. She didn't lose so few games of course, but she overcame Henin-Serena-Jankovic...then lost to Schiavone  . |

Me too, would have loved to see Conchita win a French, and sucks that Sanchez vulture could ever have 3 French Opens, no way she deserves that many.

Unbelievable? It's not like she randomly won those titles. She reached the semifinals 10 times there, played 6 finals. Won half of them. She was clearly at home in Roland Garros.

I have nothing but respect for Arantxa despite the heartbreak in 98. As Steffica Greles put it she was "a warrior". To achieve what she did while contending with Graf AND Seles is amazing - what a mentality she had!
