Re: Want Some Real Comedy? Look How Low Tennis Channel Has Serena Ranked
all rankings are subkective, but nobody cares about how will rank any TF member or one particular journalist, but if Federer is considered by the majority to be best player who ever touched a racquet and played on the tennis court , that's what is important
I still consider that Steffi is at the top of the hill, but it's weired not to admit that results achieved in ATP are still more respectable than in WTA. There was a short period when WTA was packed with great players and Slams were as hard to win as in men's tour ,but still not enough to change the image of "Francesca Schiavone can win a Major"

Petr Korda won one while on drugs, and even while he was on 'roids, I don't see how he did it. I think Fed is magical with his racquet, but let's not fool ourselves. There are quite a few 6-1, 6-2, blowout scores and tank jobs on the ATP side of tennis too.
As lame as people claim the WTA is, anybody in the top 7 can win a Slam, especially when Serena is having an off day. On the ATP side, you pretty much can expect the same winners. I was surprised that Murray's forehand held up long enough to beat a less-than-healthy Nole in the US Open.

SERENA'S THE BEST EVER POUND 4 POUND ...Credit needs to be given where it is due, the all time greats may have more hardware than Serena, but they wouldn't hang with this athletically supreme woman (TOTAL PACKAGE).

For me, Graf is the GOAT.
Her consistency and dominance across all surfaces in an era where they were NOT homogenized and their were lots of specialists is really quite remarkable.

The American has won more Australian Open titles than any other woman in the Open era. McEnroe, #13, never won the French or the Australian. Borg, #7, never won the US Open. Obviously, the Slams are not the only tournaments, but they have to be weighted more heavily than the other tournaments. Also, it's absolute BS that Serena ranks #14 and Agassi is #12. Their careers are mimetic of each other's; Serena's is simply much, much better.

Agassi is overrated in this ranking quite significantly. For instance, he is six places ahead of the great Ivan Lendl, while he should be at least six places behind Ivan
Look at their stats:
Lendl vs Agassi
H2H : 6:2
Grand Slams : 8:8
AO : 2:3
RG : 3:1
WM : 0:1
UO : 3:2
YEC : 5:1
NO. 1 (weeks) : 270 : 101
NO. 1 (years) : 4 : 1
GS Finals : 19 : 15
Win : 1071 : 870

The ATP is not inherently better than the WTA. It's apples and oranges, people. They should have two separate lists.

I agree but:

Unfortunately not true - http://bleacherreport.com/articles/5...rs-of-all-time
One thing about these polls. No-one agrees with them even when there are separate lists for men and women. Do a combined list and there's no chance anyone will agree. And if you search on google there are combined men and women lists for many sports even though they make little sense.

Re: Want Some Real Comedy? Look How Low Tennis Channel Has Serena Ranked
Serena should probably be ranked where BJK is, in my opinion, but if she achieves a bit more she will have no problem being in the conversation for top 10 best ever. It is a bit weird to include the men and women in a All Time Great ranking. Even with that said I think its fair that Serena has surpassed Agassi as far as achievements I mean she has won 2 slams 5 different times way more than Agassi has done at any slam event.

are you serious? Lendl beat 17-18 y.o Agassi ,and when Agassi grew up he started to beat Lendl
what is more Agassi with equal number of Slams has CGS + Olympic Gold, what makes him ranked higher than any 8 Slam winner
PS.... Agassi won 4 AO , you are a mess

Re: Want Some Real Comedy? Look How Low Tennis Channel Has Serena Ranked
When #14 popped up, I was shocked that Serena was in that position. I thought she would have been in top ten. Funny, though, during her #14 segment they talked about her more than they did McEnroe and Agassi during their ranking segment.
I didn't agree with the majority of the rankings, honestly. I still enjoyed watching the five-part series, though.
And the series shows just how good Serena is. She's already won two more slams and two more gold medals!
