Not suprised. Expectations for Australia really shouldn't be much higher than on the clay.

Plexicushion really isn't a good surface for her. In memory, she's played just 2 good matches on it since it was introduced, and combining Australian heat with the slow, high bouncing surface itself and these are the results you get.

Still it's disappointing that she played such a disastrous last game after winning four games in a row. Whether the second serve issue is that of a technical one or just simply going for way too much on it (average second speed of 148kph to Makarova's 120 resulting in 13 double faults to just 1), only she knows. Will it ever be fixed though? Doubtful.
