Sydney had an awesome field in past years for almost FREE because they knew most of the players will sign up anyway whatever is the prize money or no appearance fee.

Brisbane invested into the tournament, raised the prize money, paying appearance fee to stars, like Clijsters & Henin in past years or Maria & Serena this season.

if WTA is killing anything, those are pointless exos like Hopman Cup and HongKong.
