it's good that Masha warned cinemaproducers beforehand , because it won't be easy to find a partner for our tiny girl

It is off season so I can say it(!): Faye Dunaway in her prime was STUNNING. Love her in Chinatown and even though it's a popcorn film, love just watching her in Towering Inferno. A real glamour film star. Looks awful now though
I'd never thought about the Maria/Faye resemblance before but now I can see it. Maria though needs to work on displaying deep emotions if she wants to make it in the cinema. Models have gone on to film careers and Oscars - Susan Sarandon, Kim Basinger to name just 2. It would be great if a tennis player made it but they need to get in there before they lose their physical flush!

Re: Sharapova :I want to be a movie star.
Keep chasing your dreams Martha!
With that ageing issue she won't well in tennis anymore so why wouldn't she try other things.
Film industry might be a good way to establish her new way of life, she can be an audience girl on Jerry Springer for a start.
Then she could play Bella's stepsister if Mayer decides to write another Twilight book.
I mean both Martha and Kristen are likely to share the same acting skills and body shape as well. The similarity is just obvious to me.
That's how I see Martha's future in Hollywood, I'm keeping my finger crossed.

"Short career setback post-shoulder surgery" my ass. Try "longest two years ever."

'Course she does. That would give her free access to all the hot actresses.

blasphemy
OT : she'll certainly have some opportunities if she wants to give it a try but I think she is smart and lucid enough to know (unlike some other tennis players in the past...)that it's better to stick with things you're a minimum talented at.

Re: Sharapova :I want to be a movie star.
Well, she has the looks, but she's too tall. Most Hollywood actors are short. Scenes with such would be entirely awkward, for she would loom over most of them, save for the sack. Yet, she could play nonsensical roles like "Xena, Warrior Princess" or some sci-fi film. But, drama or a romantic comedy with love interests for the most part couldn't be done.

NEW DELHI: On her recent visit to India, World No 2 tennis ace Maria Sharapova not only expressed her desire to play a live match in India for her fans here, but also revealed a number of things that she wants to do in life. But, the most exciting thing on her wish list was her desire to act in a Hollywood film, someday. “Right now, too many things are happening in life. I’m tied up with my matches, brand associations and several other commitments. But someday, given an opportunity I would love to act in a Hollywood movie,” said the 25-year-old, who’s done several modelling assignments in the past, including a swimsuit spread for a sports magazine in 2006.
In India for the first time, the 6 ft 2 inches Russian beauty, who broke up with her boyfriend, basketball player Sasha Vujacic this year, looked visually excited, as she looked forward to some souvenir shopping in Delhi’s local markets. “Christmas is coming, so my friends would be happy to get some gifts. I would also like to buy some Indian wear if time permits,” said Sharapova, who was in the Capital as the brand ambassador of a UK-based real estate firm, Homestead, to announce their upcoming project in India.
Talking about her arch rival, Serena Williams, Sharapova, who had a short career setback post her shoulder injury, but managed to win the French Open this year followed by a silver medal in the Olympics, said that she doesn’t mind having a tough rival as it makes competition better. “It’s good for the game,” she said adding, “We moved to US from Russia at a very young age, so that I could play tennis better as opportunities were more in the US. Also, not many tennis players have a shoulder surgery at 21, like I did. But I have bounced back and will surely be world No 1 again one day.”

Re: Sharapova :I want to be a movie star.
I am not her fan, but I think she has qualities to succeed. And the most important of all: she has enough self-confidence and perseverance.
From all the tennis players she is definitely most qualified.

No. Don't you see her on court? The woman has no emotion. You can't be a successful actress unless you can express the emotion.

I think she could be OK in some kind of specific reserved characters. It's kind of hard to tell. She has visual qualities, but to know whether or not she can act she would have to try. An actress does not have to be giggly. I can see her in a film.

Re: Sharapova :I want to be a movie star.
She certainly has the looks - that is if her HUUUUGE oversize shoulders don't get in the way.
And her many commercial appearances have already showcased her acting "skills".
