having not seen the english-language film, i don't know, but rapace "looks" more like lisbeth to me  i think there was absolutely no need for a remake as the swedish films are perfectly good. are people really so stupid that they ignore foreign language films? seems so... |

Why does that question even need to be asked?  The swedish film is quite good, I don't get the remake either.

It is frustrating that more people don't see foreign language movies but just because the first one was in Swedish doesn't make it better and doesn't mean there can't be a different adaptation of the book. This is one instance where I'm perfectly fine with having a second adaptation. David Fincher is one of the best director's working today and I'm interested to see his take on the novel particularly because the tone of the story seems right up his alley.

Rapace is excellent as Salander. Mara has a high bar to clear and I dont think she made it yet (still 2 movies to go though)

In my mind Mara fits more adequately physically to portray Lisbeth.

Haven't seen the American version and I'm not really bothered. The Swedish films were really good. I own them all so I doubt I'll ever watch the American ones.
