Re: *Vika Azarenka Cheering Thread* - Vikalume 4.

really easy draw, as petra is not making the qfs, will likely lose to makarova. jankovic is pretty bad on grass and is not a player who troubles vika at all. she'll steamroll to the semis. hopefully sharapova makes it there too.

Only tough match till semifinals I can see is if Petra really hits a streak.

Otherwise it's good.

I guess she will be on court 1 monday

Re: *Vika Azarenka Cheering Thread* - Vikalume 4.

Great chance for Puig to reach the 4th round.

As for Vika. Need to see how it all plays out. Really lot of flyers in there. Could really see anybody from

JJ/BoJo/Wickmayer/Flipkens in R16, then Im thinking...

Kvitova/Makarova/Muguruza vs. Bouchard/Lucic-Baroni (big shocker in this section)

....and then probably Sharapova, although Mladenovic, Oudin, Safarova, Bartoli could be tough here and there.

Re: *Vika Azarenka Cheering Thread* - Vikalume 4.

Her quarter is not so bad. Gets more difficult but then at least can ease into it since she didn't have any warm up tournaments. Wouldn't want her to face Hampton which left to Maria. Wickmayer depending on her form in eastbourne, seems to be good. I do like her to play kvitova, she was close 2 years ago and by consistency vika should win out.

Of course all depends in her form on grass court which we can't judge until R1. Bring it on! My feeling is she likes a solid ground better than clay , and her fast reaction should have advantage on this surface, plus she can do great volleys.

Very nice draw. A few wildcards and the expected semifinal with Pova, but it could have been a lot worse.

Re: *Vika Azarenka Cheering Thread* - Vikalume 4.

Here is some background information about Vika's first opponent, Maria Joo Koehler (WTA #107).
http://www.wtatennis.com/players/player/13924
http://www.matchstat.com/Player/Maria%20Joao%20Koehler

Koehler (a Portuguese player with a German surname?) lost her first round match to Alize Cornet in Roland Garros, and she seems to struggle in qualifation matches before the main draw. In Australian Open she made it to the second round, but she was beaten by Jelena Jankovic. Nothing Vika should worry about in her Monday's match.

Re: *Vika Azarenka Cheering Thread* - Vikalume 4.

Not liking Kvitova in her quarter but she could easily lose before that round for all we know. If she does go that far I don't expect Slumptova to show up though...

All in all she got about the most difficult draw possible with her seeding, no?

Re: *Vika Azarenka Cheering Thread* - Vikalume 4.

Great draw, Kvitova is a mess and does not worry me at all.

A match against Sharapova on grass is something I would very much look forward to!

Re: *Vika Azarenka Cheering Thread* - Vikalume 4.

Good for Victoria ; but Sharapova also has her problems with Kristina... if she comes well, I can smell a huge upset there... so there's a strong chance to not get this SF especially that grass has become Sharapova's worst surface.

Petra might [and IMO will] not make it through but even if she does, will be interesting.

Good draw, pretty easy but not a lot of scrubs early on. Really want a Vika/Petra and Vika/Maria match.

Re: *Vika Azarenka Cheering Thread* - Vikalume 4.

I dont think it is a good draw at all. Vika is at that level where the draw in the later stages is most important. And she got the worst possible draw in both QF and Semi (12.5%). Compared to Sharapova who got the best draw in the same rounds.

Kvitova might go down in early rounds, but if she plays well enough to reach QF she is not a good opponent on grass. She is the clear fourth odds favorite right now.

Having said that, Vika is good enough to do well regardless of the draw, and the first rounds should be easy. Which is especially good on grass with no warm up tournaments.

I think it's a good draw, but not an easy draw. In that she should be ok through the early rounds even if she's not fully adjusted to the surface (or double faulting), but in the later rounds there's the promise of some interesting matches when her game should be fully firing

Yes it will be good matches. But i think there is a chance to lose any match, and it is much more up to Vika just playing well against players like Radwanska, Kerber and Errani. Against Kvitova it feels uncertain and Sharapova 50/50.

But yes lets hope for firing in the second week. (And some of the seeds may be out early anyway).
