Re: *Vika Azarenka Cheering Thread* - Vikalume 4.
Hope Victoria is ready and fit for this tournament (really would like to see her do well here) well, if not see you on clay. I guess this match would be NID for a 100% Victoria but we'll see how things unfold.

Hopefully someone will provide details of what is happening on twitter. Otherwise we will be kept in mystery as to what is going on.

Sony Open Tennis from FB
Victoria Azarenka has withdrawn from #SonyOpenTennis due 2 leg injury she suffered @ Indian Wells. She will be replaced by Lauren Davis
Sorry folks she isn't playing. This is the right decision.

Well, that's a pity. Please be fit for the clay season.

Tweet from Ben Rothenberg
As for those who think Azarenka should have pulled out sooner, I don't think she can be blamed for holding out for possible improvement.
Thank you Ben this is very well said. I do agree with you.

The status from practice video is not that good so it's a right decision. Now what we can do are praying and waiting. Hope it will not be a long time... Sigh, why such a serious injury in the beginning of the season..

Hopefully Vika Azarenka will take a long enough break to make sure that her ankle gets better. I think she should most likely skip her tournament in Monterrey too. Then her next big tournament might be in Madrid in early May 2013. http://www.madrid-open.com/en/tenis/

Re: *Vika Azarenka Cheering Thread* - Vikalume 4.
Makes sense. Hopefully she´ll also stop practice for 2-3 weeks now and only does some swimming for cardio and some upper body workouts. Then she still has 2-3 weeks for clay-court practice, because Madrid doesn´t start until May 6th.
As long as recovers fully this might help her chances on clay and grass as she´ll be very be well-rested in comparison to last season.

Yes Patrick, she really should listen to her body now. Which unfortunately means no tennis for a few weeks. Hope she skips Monterrey too and comes back in Madrid for the clay season. With an ankle that still gives problems she can't play on clay or grass at all. She really needs to take some time off. How hard that must be for her. She will come back stronger and will learn another lesson from this week.

There has to be some consideration to take a wildcard somewhere too if she withdraws from Monterrey. Stuttgart the most obvious example.

Good decision. Having watched her practice video I hoped she wouldn't play.
On the positive side, one week's rest did seem to make some improvement so 2-3 weeks of no stress on the ankle and she should be ready to practise again

Re: *Vika Azarenka Cheering Thread* - Vikalume 4.
Totally support her decision. It's better to heal the ankle properly and then start fresh and fit on clay.
But she probably should have made that decision right away instead of waiting until the last minute.
