Pretty tough draws for Jarka, Ash, Bojana and Casey. Sucks that despite Boj's great form this summer she will leave with only 26 points to show for it.

Sam's draw is actually very good and if she was in decent form/had the ability to win matches in Australia I could see her making the quarters at least. Very good draw for Sacha as well. If she had more matches under her belt I could see her making R3 but I'll be happy with a R1 win.

It really all depends on who Liv draws but I'd say she will be the underdog against almost any potential qualifier she may face.

Casey's match against Kimiko at Sydney was a complete disaster. That & the Baltacha match at Nottingham 2012 were the worst I've ever seen her play. Hopefully she has gone & worked hard on her game over the week & will have sorted some things out. Otherwise I reckon this will be a really ugly loss for her. Surely being the Aussie Open, she'll be up for it though. She always seems to be able to lift herself for AO.
As for Rogowska, she looks to me like she's absolutely hating being out there. Has the most negative game face I've seen since the Sophie Ferguson era. I watched her win 2 points in 3 games in a practice match against Lourdes Dominguez-Lino at Brissie. She looked completely pissed off the whole time (looked like she was gonna start crying at one stage) & was even throwing her racquet at the court, it was just a practice match! It was so bad, I couldn't watch anymore. I was actually surpised she won a few games off Puig in the MD. I have a feeling it's not going to be a fun year for her.
At least no-one can do as poorly as Sally Peers!

Yeah I did & you're right. She was definitely much more positive at Sydney than Brissie. It was really hard to watch her at Brissie, I felt bad for her.
I truly believe she would've been better off in qualies than getting the WC.

yikes those draws for the open are not good at all... it wouldn't surprise me if we didn't get any R1 wins at least in the mens there is Duckworth v Mitchell so there will be an aussie in the second round. it'd be great if the Rodionova's can qualify to boost our numbers (and chances of getting a win) i think Puig was in Anastasia's part of the draw and she's out so a good opportunity for her now...

Ash is developing quite a habit of choking in doubles, last year she and Casey lost in Brisbane SF in an identical fashion. Couple of MPs wasted and a break.
