Re: 2013 Americas Group I
if Aleks is on form by February and healthy, Clay is her best surface, I'm hoping that we can take it in a doubles decider. Even on clay, Canada are the favorites and should win this, Duque-Marino and Castano are horribly out of form/shape.

Re: 2013 Americas Group I
Canada's team was announced today:
Dubois, Bouchard, Fichman and Dabrowski. Not Wozniak.
Could make things interesting vs Colombia in Group A. Should have been the finals.

Re: 2013 Americas Group I
Yikes... with Wozniak out I very much have my doubts now that Canada can compete on Clay. Very hard-pressed to defeat Colombia. and if they somehow manage to sneak out of that, Brazil is going to be tough. I'm not confident now and I don't expect Canada to emerge out of this.

Re: 2013 Americas Group I
That's really sad for Aleks, hope she's not injured too bad. Fichman is actually quite good on clay, though I don't know if they'll play her over Bouchard. I think Canada still has a decent chance anyway.

Re: 2013 Americas Group I
Colombia vs Brazil final seems okey.

Re: 2013 Americas Group I
I actually think this is a good thing for Canada, on paper Canada does have the best players, Castano and Duque-Marino certainly aren't playing their best tennis these days. Dubois and Bouchard will be the go-to singles players against Castano and Duque-Marino, I know it's clay, and not Canada'a best surface, but it's doable. Eugenie is fierce and won't be afraid to take on anyone, Dubois is a veteran of Fed Cup and won't go down easily. Fichman knows how to play on clay and will be the go-to doubles player. I'm not saying this is going to be easy, because it's going to be a hell of a fight with a hostile crowd, can Canada lose easily? Quite possibly, but there's no way with the up and coming talent that we have, that we should be stuck in this group. These girls know that, and I'm sure are going to make sure they do everything they can to win.

Re: 2013 Americas Group I
Canada and Colombia have always been the strongest in this group for so many years, but why can neither of them stay above this level?
Give Paraguay a chance
This group has always a battle between teams in this order 1) Canada 2) Colombia 3) Brazil 4) Paraguay (when Rossana was here they were number 3) )

I think the Canucks have a great chance to win this group convincingly. I'm thinking they'll bet on Genie and Sharon on the important single matches and have gab and Sharon in double. Steph might play single but on clay against those player it's safer to go with fich man. Of course it depends of their training.
