Players who bring out the best and worst in each other!
Which players on tour brings out the best and worse, and which players make them fight hardest?
Serena
Brings out her worse:
Petrova
Stosour
Jankovic
Venus
I think there are a small group of player who know how to capitalize and trouble Serena. For whatever reason they seem to bring out the worst in her more than other players can.
Bring out her very best:
Sharapova
Vika
And most former and current top ranked players
Then there's a group of players who Serena doesn't take lightly and plays more determined and focused from the first point till the last, they bring out her best which too bad for them!
Make Rena fight for the win:
Safarova
Li Na
Bartoli
Kuznetsova
Zvonereva
Jie Zheng
Then there's another group who she routinely beats but she knows they will play her tough they make her fight to do so.

I think one special player unique to Masha is Anabel Medina Garrigues. Almost every time they play it's a marathon match. I think she falls under the category of playing Maria really tough but Masha always beats her in the end- she really makes her fight for the win though!
And I think u can add Cibulkova to the list of brings out the worst as well..

I will only give a brief acknowledgement to Hingis' 2002 and 2007 seasons, where she was struggling with injuries and then retiring. Because if I did factor those years, Hingis would be struggling with Daniela Hantuchova of all people  Absurd.
So OTHER than those years;
Brought out Hingis' best:
Monica Seles
Sandrine Testud
Brought out her worst:
Jennifer Capriati
Kim Clijsters
2006 -- Henin and Mauresmo
Hingis turned into an unforced error machine in her last couple of matches against all of those players.
Made her fight:
Steffi Graf -- victory was rare and never easy with Graf. Long matches, chokes, cramps, etc.
Serena Williams -- once again Hingis had a lot of tight matches with her

Anyway, in Ana's case pretty much anything goes. She brings out the worst and best in herself rather than her opponent most of the time  . |

Tbh, Maria can throw in a shitshow against ANYBODY so I wouldn't really say anyone really brings out the best in her regularly

For Serena, there was never someone like Jennifer Capriati.
Capriati was like a prize fighter, inensity at an optimum every game.
Not time to take a breather.
For Venus, obviously Serena, but there also Martina Hingis, Davenport.
