Peak Venus would destroy Peak Serenka in straight sets
The closest we've seen the two at their best was at 2008 at Wimbledon, and we all know how that ended 
Venus would dismantle Serenka with her backhand down the line, drive/swinging volleys, and all court play.
Serena would remain hopeless.
Does anyone else agree? (I know Virginie does ) |

When Serena got over her mental block with Venus, she was in control of basically all their matches where Venus was on the defensive most of the time. The only exception is the match you mentioned and the USO 2008 QF which she lost. |

I think Venus is/was a better overall athlete than Serena (as hard as that may be for some to believe). And her serve was out of this world. Her net rushing, backhand wasn't too shabby either. Great player, great skills; great athlete.
However, Serena had a better combination of mind, skills and athleticism than her sister did during a game, tournament and career
But yet, Venus's potential peak, was scary as hell. And she is/was probably the best athlete, ever (when you incorporate her size, wingspan, power and athleticism) in the WTA.
Scary as hell indeed. But better than Peak, Serena? Come on now (not when there's such a big disparity in career grand slams, especially when Serena beat her sister in so many of them).

If both had perfect mental toughness and compusre, then Venus would make it really, really close. Venus was the better athlete, had more pace on all her shots and was the better volleyer. Still, Serena is much more consistent overall, knows how to use topspin and finesse shots a whole lot more, has better court awareness, and of course, her serve is GOAT.
But the main determinant between the two is Serena's mentality, which is far superior's to Venus' or any other player.

I don't believe we've seen peak Serena. Put Serena's movement and groundstrokes from 2002 with her serve today and she is unstoppable. However, most people think Peak Serena is 2002 Serena.
Peak Venus did not have the net game she currently has but had better movement.
It'd be hard to say but I think Serena's serve would be the difference. Even at 6'2 and with Vee's reach and athleticism, Serena's serve is too much.
