Re: Safina: Serena must play full year to be real No. 1
Dinara's incorrect to say Serena hasn't been playing a full schedule, but what the Serena stans refuse to acknowledge is that Serena's worst result of the year is FARRRRRR below Maria's and Vika's worst result of the year
(Plus there's the fact the WTA don't give anywhere near enough points for the Olympics, but that's a separate issue.)

I thought that was acknowledged? That is why she is ranked 4. No one is saying that Vika doesn't deserve number one. But Serena's best results of the year are FARRRRRR above Vika and Maria as well.

I guess Maria didn't play a full schedule in 2006, 2007, 2008, 2010 and 2011 then And her World #1 should be void for 2007 and 2008

Based on your simplistic and retarded response......I guess Maria should be number 1 then.

I wonder if Dinara could choose between Azarenka's 2012 season and Serena's 2012, which one she would choose to have.
I know which one I would

I don't know why she is talking like Vika is a slamless number one, it's an entirely different situation from when her and Jankovic were number one. Vika is already better than she was.

Well if you were as intelligent as you think you are, you would know that's not the point she is trying to make.
Seriously some SW fans....it's like they're mad all the time.

Nobody said that Serena doesn't deserve the ranking that she has right now all Safina said was that Serena doesn't deserve to be number 1 especially considering the year that Azarenka has had so far. For me Victoria is a legit number one and should end the year as number 1, unless Sharapova somehow wins Beijing and YEC. Serena can take that number 2 rank from Maria but still Vika is far ahead of her.
And it's not about showing up at tournaments, it's about giving a damn about em.
|
Was the WTA going to give Serena the #1 ranking? Serena deserves the ranking she's achieved this year. Just like she deserves her slams and tournament titles. Unless something will change that we don't know about, Serena will not appear at #1 in the world next Monday. So what's the problem here?
Victoria has had a wonderful year. One to be proud of for sure and I am delighted she came into her potential and has the sky is the limit attitude. Serena has also had a great year and as a fan, I am on cloud nine. Regardless of the number Serena has beside her name, the triumphs this year have been mind blowing. People's opinions on who is best or better is a different matter. A big deal is made about this where none should be frankly.
