 If you wake up happy, balanced and ready for a nice day, just tune into Fox and have the day from hell! Most news programmes in Britain are like that too mind you. Our breakfast TV regurgitates the same so called headlines every 2 minutes, making mountains out of mole hills and heaping negativity on us at the start of the day.

is it? the whole notion of suicide revolves around a person who feels so depressed that they feel the world is better off without them, as well as them being better off without the world. people who commit suicide often think that their loved ones are better off without them, and that their very existence is what causes problems in other peoples' lives. misguided, sure, but selfish, no. the ability to think straight is hugely impaired, and as anyone who has suffered from depression knows, you aren't yourself any longer. you are ill, and that illness is what causes you to act in certain ways. i'm not saying that some suicides aren't carried out by selfish people, but i'd never equate suicide with selfishness in general.

I've worked in the UK a few times and am well aware of your breakfast shows and daily "news" tabloids, w/ splashy headlines and Page 3 girls.  The prior stodgy and reserved image I had of the British quickly flew out the window.

So someone should contine a soul-destroying, terribly unhappy existence just so they don't hurt anyone else?
If someone wants to die let them, they shouldn't be bound to life out of obligation.
I think it's selfish for a family to want to keep someone alive for their own benefit.
