Not "from a different country" or "of a different nationality" but "representing a different country" Of course, perhaps the phrasing is merely coincidental.

if she phrases it again like that in the near future and not the other way around then it is surely not a coincidence, but one time like that we don't know. To be fair tho, I don't see why it matters so much all of the sudden right now lol. I'm not sure what kind of marketing or thing she's trying to portrait by talking about the player nationality.

Allister has been waging an anti-Fed Cup campaign of late. She recently justified her attacks on this event by saying, "We believe our athletes are playing for their country every day." No doubt we can expect plenty more of this crap in the future.

For your information it is not only opinion of Allister, and not only opinion of WTA, and not only opinion of the most of the players (male and female) but it is a basic point of the rules.
Of course for you that's "crap".
Allister, Federer and other players are not so intelligent like you are...

Is this a cheap shot at Fed Cup, or a desperate attempt to get some butts in seats by appealing to nationalist sentiment?
Anything but admit the Roadmap and the chasing of corporate dollars has hung the fans out to dry, I guess.
In fairness, you do need corporate money to keep the tour alive. But the WTA really whored itself out and didn't use any of its own bargaining power to set the terms of its deals, and as a result it plays to empty stadiums while the people who would go to matches can't even get decent TV coverage.
