Donations - Yesterday and Today

list what slams in your view will go down in history as clear cut donations from top guns to lesser players......

the slams over the years which have been donated by top favourites to lesser players......

the first slam that comes to my mind is serena donating french open 2012......from the 90s, the first donation i recollect is graf to davenport at wimbledon '99......she should have take that title......

feel free to add as many slams as you like and let's analyze the amount of truth in the claim......

YOu just make it so easy for us to do this: truth in your claim = 0. Donating a Slam when losing in the 1st round? And how did Serena know it would be Sharpie winning? Or are you saying she donated it for the good of the world (debatable) in general?

Nobody donates Slams. They are hard-earned, every single one.

How many wins does Serena have on Red clay vs decent clay players ? Sampras was also donating titles at RG , wasn't he?

Re: Donations - Yesterday and Today

Australian Open 2005, why did Mrs Leach get so upset when she hit that backhand crosscourt out? After that one point, all Serena had to do was keep the ball in play. Total mental meltdown over such an insignificant shot.

Re: Donations - Yesterday and Today

Normal people do not look at wins like that. A person won/did not win a tournament and that is that. No win is going to go down in history as a "donation". If it makes some of you feel better to say that a player you liked ALMOST won something, that's fine. However, most people won't look at it like that; they'll simply look to the winner.

Re: Donations - Yesterday and Today

I guess you could say Justine donated the 2008 French Open.

Re: Donations - Yesterday and Today

Serena FO 2012 obvious trolling. She didn't donate that slam -- she lost in the first round. At least US Open 2011 would make some sense, although, still, it was no donation. Stosur took it.

Re: Donations - Yesterday and Today

Hingis donated Roland Garros in 97
Serena donated Wimbledon 2004
Henin and Mauresmo donated US Open 2006
Ivanovic donated the Australian Open in 2008
Kvitova donated the Australian Open in 2012
And as the OP said, Serena donated Roland Garros this year

serena was tipped by tennis pundits to win roland garros 2012......she was hungry and ready to win and that is all that matters because the field is inferior......it doesn't matter how many clay titles she has.......everybody knows she would have destroyed everyone had she just limped over that almost unknown first round opponent......
