Maria has had her fair share of embarrassing finals this year but the worst one should be the Olympics final. She was nowhere near her best level that day and Serena was just brutal.

Was Azarenka better in SF?  She won 2 more games, but that match was as one-sided , as Masha's and Vika was similarly helpless
I'm absolutely sure that if Sharapova had lost to Serena with the same score in SF and Azarenka in Final , we would have had a thread about "most embarassing big SF"
I'm absolutely sure that there was noone in WTA who could have won more than 3 games in the Final vs Serena.

Hey Pal no one is trying to make a comparison between Maria and Vika here, the thread title is most embarrassing BIG FINAL in 2012 and Maria played really really bad in that final at the Olympics  It is what it is. Maria did not bother to show up in that final all she did was wake up for one or two games in that second set and then she went away AGAIN.
