I knew it would be a crucial match.. Ana's loss gave Errani her spot in the YEC. That alone is crucial.

And it was a horrid loss.. A match she just gifted away..

I do think it helped Ana start to win 3 setters though.

From RG 2008 until USO 2011: lost in R1 4 times, lost in R2 3 times, lost in R3 3 times, lost in R4 3 times. 18 wins and 13 losses

Since hiring Nigel: lost in R3 once, lost in R4 3 times, lost in QF once. 15 wins and 5 losses.

Now, keep it up, girl.

No, I was looking at the R4 match as the crucial one I took Errani for granted

Yes, it's been a process

I'm so curious about what she can do next year

Re: Ana's end of the year thread (2012 Asia and Indoor)

Lol. Well her aim for the end of the year is to reach the YEC (nearly impossible task), so I don't think she'll even come close to achieving that with that schedule. Hopefully she adds Seoul to her schedule. And Linz maybe.

Isn't it too late to add Seoul now?

No more chance for Seoul. And I'd bet money there is no chance for Linz either.

Ana on facebook:

Quote:
Ana Ivanovic
I'm back from New York and it's just a week until I leave for Tokyo. I feel like it was an excellent tournament for me overall, especially considering the preparation I had. Reaching the quarter-finals was obviously a big breakthrough and I'm looking to build on this at my remaining tournaments this year.

I think Ana might be in England.. Just saw this tweet:

Quote:

Stringing former World number one Ana Ivanovic's racket #nopressure
This guy is from Brighton.. which is around where Nigel lives I think.

She's leaving for Tokyo next, no Seoul. I think she will add Linz only if she does a mediocre Asian swing. Moscow and Fed Cup are certainly there.

Re: Ana's end of the year thread (2012 Asia and Indoor)

She might be in England...i've watched on youtube Ana - Pironkova match and Olga Morozova was one of the commentators. I was surprised to hear how much Olga loves and respects Ana...She said, if i understood her correctly, that Ana was a guest in Nigel's house couple of times this year already. There is a tennis court near Nigel's home so they can go and practice whenever they want. Olga said they get along very well, they have same goal and that Ana's tennis ( Olga said - "new style" ) is entirely Nigel's idea. Many coaches wanted to change Ana's game and mess up with her FH, but Nigel wants her FH to be faster, deeper and more precise...to add more spin to her shots... They work hard on her service ...I could be wrong but it think that's what Olga said.

Thanks for the info!

Add spin to her shots... Average game will only make Ana average.

And all this work on her serve.. I'm really puzzled by it.. its getting it incresingly worse.

Re: Ana's end of the year thread (2012 Asia and Indoor)

Morozova was talking much more about Ana's personality. Ana would never pass by Olga without saying hello..." she is a wonderful, polite and generous girl. Well mannered, always smiling and positive". It was hard for her, for Ana herself and her fans (and she said for some journalists and coaches ) to see Ana in a slump, to see her crying at the press conferences because..."everybody loves Ana, she is everybody's darling".

Olga said she'll never forget how nice Ana was to Laura Robson in 2008. Laura was 14 years old and Ana just won RG and became No.1... Morozova worked at that time as Laura's coach and they met Ana in APDP camp. Ana talked to Laura, they trained together a bit and then she went to a restaurant with them. Ana wanted to share her impressions about tennis, APDP program, about the game and preparations. Olga especially liked Ana's cordial relationship with young players..."she was No.1 but at the same time, so natural, down to earth and worm."

Then other commentator said to Olga..."You know, you should talk more about her tennis and this match" , Morozova laughed and said..." I know,i know but i have to say - she is such a nice girl".

If tennis was a competition of niceness Ana would always be top 5. There is way more to talk about that than about Ana's tennis..
