I am a big proponent of reciprical learning. Find someone of the same or better aptitude as you and make them your study partner. Hopefully you guys will compliment each other. Where your notes are lacking their notes can help fill in the blanks. My hangout spot to study was Denny's. Order a grandslam breakfast and get the free coffee refills. The waitresses love nothing more than to see young students learning...they will keep those refills coming. When you leave at 2 or 3 in the morning leave a nice tip and they will take care of you everytime you show up.


Again the key is reciprical learning. If you have someone that has nothing to give, it becomes a chore.....vice versa if you are the someone with nothing to contribute, it can become a burden for your study partner.

I only take notes beforehand if we're expected to have done an assignment/reading on material that we haven't yet covered in class. But for certain classes (like math classes) you can't really do that because you're usually not assigned the homework until after it's been taught. It really varies by the subject. But definitely stick with the syllabus and try to get everything done when it's assigned. There might be nights where you don't want to make the 1 hour sacrifice, but it's better than letting it build up and having to do 1 week's worth of homework in 1 day.

Also I've started getting up earlier so I can study and review notes a bit before class. I just skim over things for 10-15 minutes (or 45 minutes if I have quizzes like I did this morning ) and it really helps me follow along much easier in lectures/class. Everyone says that you remember stuff much better if you do it right before you fall asleep, but fuck that shit. I always used to sit there in class the next morning like, "I vaguely remember reading this shit, but I'm too tired to remember a single detail."
