One of my really good friends is a Republican, and I fight with her all the time about certain issues but she's a newer generation of Republican that claim to be the "fiscally conservative and socially liberal".

Yeah, thats some bullshit, because you can't separate social policy from economic policy, they are both intertwined.

All my friends don't have to be Democrats, I'm honestly just a Democrat by default. If there were more viable options I'd be something else. But they have to be at least be socially conscious and critical thinkers.

How is it even possible to be "socially liberal" and "fiscally conservative?" I'm guessing she thinks that being socially liberal = supporting gay rights. I think that in order to be "socially liberal," you have to care about being at the bottom of society (e.g. poor people, the elderly, students, etc.).
