Why do some players only do well in slams then suck in tour events?
for example Pironkova, Paszek, Stephens, Mchale, Makarova, Lepchenko
Why is it these players can only make it far in GS then seem to forget to play tennis in regular tour events.
What's the deal?

Not sure about the others, but Pironkova has benefited from easy draws throughout her career, except at Wimbledon, where she's a top-10 player.

Bratchikova too, I suppose they feel that the MM tournaments aren't worthy of their talent

Stephens, McHale, and Lepchenko get their rankings up from tour events....
