Seeds failing big time at USO
In R3 we have only 5 matches where seeds will play against each other out of possible 16 matches
Is this the worst GS when it comes to that stat recently?

Re: Seeds failing big time at USO
Losing 16-32 seeds isn't hurting the Tour.
As long as the big seeds stay in the draw, it's all right.

Re: Seeds failing big time at USO
Ppl complain about the randomness of the FO but USO always draws up some crazy semi finalist like wicky or kerber last year

Re: Seeds failing big time at USO
Its the end of the year people are struggling physically. As above has said the big names are still in, which hasnt happened in previous years (see 2009, 2010), so lets celebrate that.

I said SEEDS, not TOP SEEDS. I'm pretty sure that seeds beyond 14th seed are seeds as well
It's a topic about how much the difference between 20-30 seeds and the non-top 30 players is little, if there is any difference at all...

Wimbledon this year had only 3 all-seeded matches (out of 16) in R3, with 14 seeds out in the first two rounds.
USO 2009 had 4 such matches in R3, with half the seeds out in R1/R2 - the highest amount of any slam the past 5 years.
Wimbledon 2008 also had 4 matches with two seeds, with 15 seeds gone.
The usual number is 6 or 7 matches, so this tournament is on the low side (with the 17-32 seeds doing particularly bad), but not a record or something.

Re: Seeds failing big time at USO
Not having talented players like Niculescu, AMG and Lepchenko in the fourth round is truly a huge blow to the tour

Either way it's still a fail thread.....the very GS prior to this had few matchups

While a possibility that Govortsova, Puchkova and Espinosa will make it to R4 is just exuberant

Re: Seeds failing big time at USO
The 16-32 seeds are irrelevant anyway so losing them is hardly a major problem.
