Serena's 2012 Schedule
Here is how I think Serena's 2012 will look:
Singles:
Brisbane International
Australian Open
Fed Cup
Dubai Tennis Championships
Abierto de Tennis Monterrey
Sony Ericsson Open, Miami
Fed Cup
Mutua Madrilena Madrid Open
Internazionali BNL d'Italia, Rome
French Open
Wimbledon
London Olympics
Cincinnati Open
US Open
China Open, Beijing
Generali Ladies Linz, Austria
Sony Ericsson Championships, Istanbul
Doubles:
Wimbledon
London Olympics
US Open
Mixed Doubles:
Australian Open
French Open
London Olympics
There is a two week gap between Fed Cup Semi-Finals, Madrid & Rome and there is 3 weeks between Wimbledon & Olympics and Stanford begins two days after the Women's Final so Serena won't be able to defend her title and Montreal begins the week after the Olympics so again she won't be able to defend her title her only US Open warm up will be Cincinnati.

Re: Serena's 2012 Schedule
Fed Cup is in the first week of February right after the AO.

Re: Serena's 2012 Schedule
Do we know which tournaments she is scheduled to play except Grand Slams? Probably MANDATORY ones (except Indian Wells). But what else if any? When I was watching her 2nd round match at Brisbane International the commentator said she was going to play APIA INTERNATIONAL in Sydney. Never heard of it before, was she really scheduled to play there? Obviously due to her ankle injury she won't play anywhere until AO, but was she really going toplay there?

Re: Serena's 2012 Schedule
I don't think she was ever scheduled to play Sydney. Also because she's 30 I don't think she's required to play the 4 Premier Mandatories but she'll probably play Miami

Yeah, I din't think she was scheduled to play Sydney either, that's just what they said during her match and I was like '???' so I wanted to ask if anyone heard about it.
And about the Mandatories, I said she would PROBABLY play them, I didn't say she was required.

Serena played only 9 events/ year in her prime years. At most it was 13 events/ year. It would be thrilled if she decide to play more this year. She might giving this year her last effort in what I think it would be her last full year. I don't think she will play up to 15 events/ year aside Fed cup as above though. It's unlikely she 'll play Monterrey, Linz. Probably one out of the two P5 Rome and Cincinnati.
