Re: Us Open 2012

Shame Mon and Sacha lost but it was expected i guess....
Glad rodi didn't muck around, if she can get through Garcia she should be able to account for whoever she gets in the final round...

Re: Us Open 2012

Expected loss for Monique, but I thought Sacha could trouble (or beat) Malek, who can be bludgeoned off the court by anyone with a decent game.

Castano replaced Liv in the Q draw and beat Schoofs in straight sets. I think Olivia would've beaten Schoofs too, so hopefully that's not 40 points gone down the drain. But still, main draw and some $$$ Hope she gets a good draw now.

My thoughts exactly, obviously if she can win its great and the money is a lot better to help with her/TA ongoing costs....time will tell what the best thing for her ranking would have been... Need to make sure she is firmly stuck in the top 108 by years end to gain Direct Entry to AO. That applies to all our girls around that mark, too often they miss the cut by 5 or less places....smart scheduling and decent results needed over the coming months for Jarka, Liv, Casey and Rodi....

Re: Us Open 2012

^ Well Rodionova is actually down at 160, so she has loads of work to do

She's way too good for that rank though. She is a solid 75-100 player. But at 30, I feel a doubles only career is not too far off...

As for Liv, qualies would have been good points-wise for her, but don't get me wrong, I am thrilled that she is in the main draw

What about Jarka? Probably with Zakopalova.

Agreed, but if she could qualify here for a start and then get some strong results through the asian events to finish the year...particularly the international events....she could do it...I still have faith she can re-crack the top 100...

Re: Us Open 2012

Disappointed for Monique. She just never seems to play her best tennis at the slams, apart from a once-time qualification at the us open a few years back.

Maybe she might appear at some 25K's and terrorise some aussie gals like she did a few years back

Yeah Casey wasn't impressed at the time, some were some real bitchy and nasty comments but u get that from rodi i guess and they know her now away from tennis which has settled it all down...

Imagine a Breadmore v Rodionova match in their peaks of bitchiness with sideline comments from Shan Golds (Stamenovic now after her weekend wedding which Ericksen and Lucy Gonzalez were bridesmaids at) and a few of the other girls that like to stir...id pay to watch that

I thought of you right away when I saw the Liv VS Mandy match Kev. Who will you cheer for?!?! Martic is not an ideal opener for Sam. They had a third set tie-break match in Madrid and Petra has a lot of game. She has been injured and hasn't played for a while though so for Sam's sake I hope she's rusty. Casey VS Q is a bit of a lucky dip but with her form atm you'd have to favour her to come through. Nadia can be as big of a head case as Jarmila lately so could be a blessing in disguise.

Re: Us Open 2012

Nerves will be the deciding factor with Sam v Martic. They had a very close match in Madrid, as petey said, but Martic is under an injury cloud and hasn't played much this summer. If Martic was fit and match tough I'd call it either way, but Sam really should win this match based on the present, no question. But this is Sam and she IS the defending champion

You know what? A loss would not surprise me at all.

Re: Us Open 2012

Nastya has had two easy wins in qualifying and has an very winnable final qualifying match so I'd expect her to make it through. With a reasonable draw she could win a match or two in the MD.

Not bad draws overall. We could easily get 3 into the second round
