We have a strong team here, also Hon beat Pospelova a week ago, so it was very even going into it.

Re: 2012 World Junior Tennis Finals, Czech Republic
Australia has a good team, Russia too, but they are not the most consistent girls, so i'm not that surprised.
And talking about consistent, Gerlach must be one of the most inconsistent girls in recent years, sometimes she has great results and other times she is totally bashed by her rival

Re: 2012 World Junior Tennis Finals, Czech Republic
Well, there were some surprises, like USA losing to Slovakia. And it seems quite obvious that Tornado is not that ahead the other top players of her age, it's not about her lost against Kuzmova, is that most of her rivals are able to put quite a fight, today she needed 2:20 hours to defeat Priscilla Hon

Re: 2012 World Junior Tennis Finals, Czech Republic
Yes Slovakia won, but Taylor defeat Kuzmova quite easily (61 64) wich was a little surprising because Kuzmova defeated all her rivals before (including Tornado). 1998 are a bunch of good players, and there's difficult to predict who is going to win when two top players face each other

Re: 2012 World Junior Tennis Finals, Czech Republic
Yeah, '98 looks like a really good generation. And until now it's front-runners seem to be Olga Fridman and Tornado Ali Black, but there are a lot of promising girls, including Shiskina, Galfi, Payola, Cristian, Hon, Bains, Lumdsen, Pospelova, Kuzmova, Jokic, Jovic, Gerlach, Alipieva, Mihalikova, Bouzkova, Plews, Taylor, Arconada ans so on. When you put this girls altogether, the future of WTA seems a little brighter

Meh. Wait for them to play U18 junior tour.
Transitioning from U14s to U18s is close to difficulty as from U18s to Pros.
For example I don't know much about others, but Bains has been very disappointing so far.

They still have a lot of time left to accommodate. Some of them will disappoint, others will confirm, but this field has some depth. A few of them should be going far in the next years. Next year will be very important for them.

Re: 2012 World Junior Tennis Finals, Czech Republic
Well, i don't know the rest, but Payola will probably follow the Sorribes route. Spanish girls generally don't play juniors, it's true that Julia played a lot more international u14 and u16 than other spanish, but a lot less than most top players of her age.
Right now there are more junior tournaments in spain, some grade 5 at begining of the year and a good bunch of grade 2 and 3, if she play that tournaments and do well enough, she maybe will get ranking to play qualys at GS.
But as i say, probably she will follow the same path that Sara did, playing some itfs. It seems Sara will play Australian Open next year, but she will get there thanks to her wta ranking (she only needs to improve a little bit to be good enough for qualys)
