She's done. She also tweeted that she was studying law.

She was #1 with a record of 52-10 in 2009, when she got injured. She tried to come back for two years.
Oh let me guess you are a Williams stan that thinks the bad losses to Serena and Venus made Safina quit.

Re: Is Safina done?
Such a shame..if she didn't choke in Slam finals she would easily have had at least one FO by now. Now she'll always have an asterisk by her (former) world number one ranking. Would love to see her make a comeback but it seems so unlikely

Re: Is Safina done?
I thought she said she was going to take a year off to heal her back. She should take whatever time is necessary to heal her back and mind. She needed to step away from the game to rediscover her joy and love for the sport. She was so burdened by reaching #1 and failing to win a slam, it brought her down. She was very negative once achieving the top ranking.

a Williams stan? No. Safina's level dipped horribly before she got injured. and after she choked against Kuznetsova and just got outplayed by Venus.
Why would I think they ran her out of the game. They barely even played her......
I'm trying to figure out where all this Safina love is coming from like she was the angel of the tour and had so much skill. should be a multi slam champion etc...etc...

Peak Safina would never beat the current Maria on clay. Peak Safina had to either save matchpoints or recover from a 4-0 3rd set deficit in her two wins over Maria at the French when Maria was "cow on ice". The current Maria who is a way better clay courter than before would blitz her.
And no Safina is not a better clay courter than Serena. Safina has never played tennis on any surface like Serena in Charleston and Madrid this year. Serena is vastly underrated no clay on this forum, people talk about say Kuznetsova as some clay god and her clay credentials overall are less than Serena's.
As for the rest peak Safina is long over so what is your point. Even players who have natural careers dont last at their peak for 5-6 years or more unless they are truly amazing talents. You really think she is going to come back after all that has happened at age 27/28 and outplay the likes of Azarenka or Kvitova on any surface.

Good for her. I am sure she will do great. She seems like a very intelligent and well spoken women, and very feisty too which is needed in the court room. At the same time more composed than her brother.
