Wimbledon 2012 : Lucie is ready to be the Queen on grass
The draw is out, Lucie is in Serena's Quarter
[6] Serena Williams (USA) v Barbora Zahlavova Strycova (CZE)
Johanna Larsson (SWE) v [Q] Melinda Czink (HUN)
Vera Dushevina (RUS) v Aleksandra Wozniak (CAN)
Stephanie Dubois (CAN) v [25] Zheng Jie (CHN)
[19] Lucie Safarova (CZE) v Kiki Bertens (NED)
Chanelle Scheepers (RSA) v [WC] Yaroslava Shvedova (KAZ)
Laura Pous-Tio (ESP) v Anne Keothavong (GBR)
[Q] Coco Vandeweghe (USA) v [10] Sara Errani (ITA)
Kiki is playing great this year but she not that good on grass like other Dutch girls, Lucie should be ok passing through R1. R2 opponent will probably be Shvedova who is in a good form, but if Lucie make through somehow, R3 should be easier. I hope she can make it, but she really need to concentrated in the first two match, we all know she always underperform when she is playing in a bigger stage. Wish her all the best in Wimbledon.
This is my first thread created for Lucie, I wish I can really bring some luck for her

Good on you for opening the thread I agree with you, I'm worried particularly about round 2 because both those players will be effective on grass. I'd rather Scheepers, and I do not like Shvedova. I feel like if she could make round 3 she has a real shot at round 4, but she has to really focus on her first two matches to play well. Here's hoping you bring her luck with your first thread and she finally has a good run.

Also, terrible doubles draw...Pennetta/Schiavone round 1, Peschke/Srebotnik round 2 I doubt they'll win a match there.

Hmmm... Honestly a pretty good draw. I expect nothing because this is Lucie's least-favorite surface by far, but she has no business losing her first round. I would be surprised if she lost to Scheepers but I could see Shvedova giving her fits. I won't think about that yet though because Lucie+_grass is a one match at a time sort of process, .

Not a bad draw at all; I agree with Davodus, I'd prefer Scheepers in round 2 than Yari.

Shvedova is the most tough part
If Lucie can get past her,I believe she stands a good chance of reaching R4.

Is it just me or is Lucie always the first one up on a court in a grand slam?

Re: Wimbledon 2012 : Lucie is ready to be the Queen on grass
I have this strange feeling that Lucie may have her best grand slam this year at Wimbledon. It's just a hunch but I feel like Lucie doesn't expect much on grass so she doesn't feel the pressure she feels at say Roland Garros, plus her draw is not that bad. So we'll see.

A good summary, and I really hope you can!
The draw is definitely better than last year but it almost feels irrelevant discussing the draw when it comes to grass!
As ever with Lucie the longer the tournament goes on the more dangerous she can become but equally getting over that mental hurdle of earlier rounds won't be easy. Both Scheepers and Shvedova have experience of upsetting bigger players.
The only good thing I'd say though is that there isn't too many of those "unorthodox players".

Re: Wimbledon 2012 : Lucie is ready to be the Queen on grass
She is not that bad on grass. I mean, she has been showing some good tennis in Eastbourne over the years, but when it comes to Wimbledon, she is complete fail

Re: Wimbledon 2012 : Lucie is ready to be the Queen on grass
When she comes to grand slams she is a fail. Its pathetic, I mean come on. 6-3 6-0 to Bertens? God.
