Re: Which Grand Slam do you want to be Maria's first #2?
If she wins Wimbledon......that would be because of the elements of a dominating serve and return of serve. If her confidence in them continues to become stronger, there is nothing that is impossible.
So...win in the first round at Wimbledon. Keep taking things one match at a time. That seems to be working well.

I want her to win Wimbledon for the 2nd time or the Aussie Open
I hope she can end her career with 6 Slams!

I hope she ends with a double digit figure for Slams she's won! A bit too optimistic, but I know she can do it!

Wimbledon because it's the most prestigious, RG because I want her to prove she's the post-Henin Claycourt Queen, and the AO because it's my favourite Slam
Obviously I wouldn't say no to another US Open, but it would be my last preference, with their shitty matches, wind, terrible scheduling and over-commercialisation ruining everything

Funny, I'm actually feeling a lot more confident about her chances at the US Open this year than I was when I wrote this... not sure why though
Although I'd still ideally love her to win a second Wimbledon title (because, let's face it, it is that bit more special than the other Slams), I really don't think it's going to happen now sadly - I think her game is now so unsuited to grass, that if it was going to happen, it would've had to have been this year, when her confidence was sky-high.

Re: Which Grand Slam do you want to be Maria's first #2?
I don't really think the confidence from this year is sky high yet. I think this gap between OG will allow it to set in though. Considering how well she served in the wind at RG I'm cautiously optimistic about USO this year. However I wouldn't mind her playing Montreal as a lot of the time I've watched it's been quite windy so it may prepare her better. But I know it's not going to happen as it's after OG and Cinci has probably became one of her favourite tournaments considering her results there.
Sometimes I have mixed emotions about Maria's new topspin shots. Because of the sheer pace on a hard court or clay it doesn't really matter but she does need flat shots on grass. Realistically though, I know it's much better given how erratic her play was before 2011. It's just I would love for her to win Wimbledon again. Actually the more I think about it the more I think we're going too much on one performance. She was mentally a little flat, and her game wasn't there. It's not like she's hitting with Rafa/Stosur spin. She still hit's the ball hard enough to succeed on grass if she gets those knees down. I mean other than Lisicki/Pironkova and Paszek there really isn't any lower ranked player who I would consider a threat to Maria, and she would still beat them if she plays her best.
Also, the spin on her shots could help her in USO this year as well. My only concerns for the rest of the season is that Maria has won almost as many matches this year already than in the whole of last year. So I'm hoping this break gives her the mental rest she needs and rests the shoulder.
In terms of Slam success I suppose the two biggest bets right now would be AO and RG. We might not get another Slam this year but I doubt it will be four year before we get the next. More importantly I just hope Maria manages to finish a year injury free for once.
Didn't intend for this post to be as long, it just happens sometimes.

Can anything happen at the Olympics that matters one way or another?

I voted for AO, coz it's my favourite GS. But,frankly speaking, winning each slam once is kinda... unique

Opinions are a bit divided among TF members about how important the Olympics are. Fans of someone who ends up doing badly there probably will argue that it doesn't matter while fans of the one who ends up winning will say that it's the biggest thing ever. But yeah, I think it matters. And for Maria it would be huge if she would win because she would then have done it all - world #1 ranking, winning the four majors, the YEC, Fed Cup and the OG. The importance of everything else can go up and down as time goes by, but the historical importance of those events are set in stone.
