Re: Roland Garros 2012: Moo fighting for glory on the red dirt !

I just feel soooo much more nervous about this event now. Its the same way I felt after Serena got knocked out of the AO just now thats its soo much earlier. Six (hopefully) more matches to sit thru knowing that she really should win the tournament if she is playing well. Im going to be a wreck after this event.

Yeah, but as far as I can tell it's going to be in the 70's, sunny and low winds.

Re: Roland Garros 2012: Moo fighting for glory on the red dirt !

Sorry if this was already posted. It's a quote by Laura Robson about looking up to Maria's game

“It’s definitely a surface that I can continue to improve on. I’m going to obviously put a lot of work into getting better on this surface. You look at someone like Sharapova, and she’s made massive strides on clay. She definitely has the sort of game that I would like to be playing on this surface.”
– Laura Robson getting some inspiration from Maria Sharapova that yes, big girls can play on clay. It’s funny how times change.

Generally I'm more worried about Maria self-destructing after the Serena loss (she always does this ) but hopefully she doesn't. With that said, she's playing Ayumi Morita tomorrow and I don't think she's gonna struggle. At one point in her career, Morita was getting (or close to, before she retires) double bagels in every match she plays. The only Asian players that troubles Maria is Li, Peng, and Zheng.

I'm sorry but i'm not sure why this warranted a new thread when we have the main RG discussion thread already in the forum.

Claypova creating her own style of claycourt tennis, which will be a reference for all future girls. Bolettieri is already writing a book on it I bet. So influential

Hopefully Maria avoids the carnage.

Also quite terrified that, for the first time, I can actually kind of envisage Radwanska walking off with the trophy God help us.
I hate that. Remember the 2009 USO? When Oudin slaughtered 4 Russians in a row and we had a Bondarenko in the QFs and Yanina in the semis

But this tournament has a different feel to it. I'm guessing Maria will stay well inside her bubble for the entire tournament. She's far away from the chaos and will easily slay her section.

I too think the vulture could go far here but I'm counting on Ivanovic to have her breakthrough win against her. It would mean so much, and she'd be on the 2nd week of a slam for the 1st time since she won the French in 2008 (4 years, my god ). I think she can do it.

I don't see the vulture making the final yet. Yes it is very solid right now but Vinas was a disaster in their match. That one game towards the end where she cared for a bit, and gave her French fans probably the last taste ever of the Venus Williams they once knew, she held to love in 45 seconds.
