Re: Roland Garros 2012: Victorious Moo
This year is brutal for the top players, especially Pova. Pova played an amazing Clay Season and is in the hunt for W. Usually after W she can take a break but this year she has to stay on the high point for the Olympics. Then without a break, she right into the USO run!
That's a lot of tennis for Pova! Her durability has been fantastic so far this year but there are limits, aren't there? My thoughts:
Pova goes all out for W and Gold, then, if she goes deep at those events, plays USO without a warmup tournament, regardless of a third zero against her ranking points and probable loss of #1 as a result. But she needs a rest period somewhere or gc-spurs prediction for a short run at USO takes on a life of its own.

I think she'll play Cinci. Not playing anything would mean four zero pointers, being Doha/Dubia (whatever it was this year), Charleston and Toronto. At least I think it would. She could only afford to do that if she won Wimbledon really.

Knowing how smart Maria is, didn't she have this all planned out beforehand?
By the way, why didn't Maria play 2004 OG?

She didn't make the cutoff! iirc.
Those were the days that the Top 10 were half Russian.

Yeah, Myskina, Dementieva, Sveta...besides she had not played a Fed Cup tie then.

I reckon she'll atleast skip Toronto if she goes deep in the Olympics... no way will she want to play 3 straight weeks heading into a Slam.

I'm cool as long as she defends Cincy. Seeing her last year was awesome.

Was this for me? Um yeah, but she drank the champagne out of the bottle with her right hand. I drink water with left to and I am a righty... Very clumsy with left.
P.S. I provoke you a bit.

Because it's her freakin' CareerSlam winning thread We really should keep it alive with posts from time to time, just to honor this victory The moment I thought of this, and rewatched the ceremony with Russian anthem, I got over this year's Wimbly
