Re: Maria getting ready for the FO - Strasbourg
is she just trying to save up her energy for the French open? I think she is becoming too relaxed ever since reaching her new career high..which is not a good thing!

Re: Maria getting ready for the FO - Strasbourg
she had the medical timeout so something must feel a little bit off and she probably does not want to risk getting hurt before the French Open.

Re: Maria getting ready for the FO - Strasbourg
Just saw the end, it was pathetic, so better taking a week off with Ovi and go to Paris to have fun. She no longer knows how to play on clay and she's bad on grass, so we'll have to wait till august i think before seing her at a decent level.

Re: Maria getting ready for the FO - Strasbourg
why are you doing this kiri?
what's the reason for the retirement? would she have liked it to win only in 2 sets? no will to fight for it in a 3rd set?
I am sick of it, kiri isn't the same since the long break she took after she won the double title at miami
where is this fighting spirit she had at the begin of the season?

Re: Maria getting ready for the FO - Strasbourg
Yeah, it really went downhill the last weeks . Hopefully some time with Owi will refresh her. But let us not forget that there are some positives things as well, she almost has the Olympics qualification in her bag. I think that is huge, especially in Russia! Good luck for that. She started to play better on grass the last seasons, hopefully there will be further improvement.
Nevertheless, I still have high hopes for the French Open, she is seeded 16th after all, that is something.

right, let's see the positive things
maybe she wanted to save some energies for the French Open, but I don't understand why she hadn't pull off before the tournament started, not after playing two sets for nothing..
my expectations for Roland Garros aren't too hight right now, considering those last tournaments on clay...
even if she has a good draw, it seems that she can't take advantage from it at the moment
let's hope we can see the "old" kiri at the FO, I am already happy if she gives everything there and keeps fighting till the end

Re: Maria getting ready for the FO - Strasbourg
I think this injury, while not being very serious, definitely affected Kiri's clay season alot. From the matches I've seen, her movement sucked, which caused her defense to be bad as well. I think the injury has something to do with that. Plus it's not a new injury.
She's worn a little tape near her ankle since Estoril.

I think you are right....that ankle injury is really slowing down her great run she had this season...let's hope it won't get worse over the next month
