Awesome week for Malene Stripp although the QF scoreline wasn't very good. She never had much success when she started playing pro tennis: In fact, she failed to make the main draw at her first 19 pro-tournaments (from June 2011 - February 2014)! But now she has made the MD twice in a row, and even got her first two MD wins this week! Kudos for hanging in there
She has a recruiting video on Vimeo. Apparently she wants to study in the States and play college tennis in the fall of 2014.
There's a Danish Grand Prix tournament in Copenhagen this week (at KB). The acceptance list is pretty good although Barbat, Stripp, & Emilie Francati are missing.
(1)Mai Grage d. (Q)Sofie Aamot Mønster 62 60
(8)Anna Signe Rasmussen d. (Q)Stefani Lekic 60 61
(10)Karina I. Jacobsgaard d. (Q)Hannah Viller Møller w/o
(6)Emilie Elsvad d. Emma Håkansson 62 63
(5)Emma Rønholt d. Anna S. Christensen 60 61
(3)Julie Noe d. Anna Marie Møller 61 60
(11)Frederikke Svarre d. (Q)Mathilde Tranberg 75 61
Cecilie Melsted d. (2)Maria Jespersen 64 61
Ulrikke Høyer was seeded (4), and Stripp (7) but both withdrew. Frederikke Støchkel was next on the seedings list (9) but also withdrew. Which explains why there are players seeded 10 and 11 in the draw.
Big win for Cecilie against Maria!
Hannah Viller Møller had to travel to Finland today for the Nordic Team Championships. Otherwise it would have been an interesting match against Karina Jacobsgaard today: Hannah is 12 years old and Karina is 34!
A potentially big QF is coming up tomorrow: Julie Noe vs Emma Rønholt. But Julie has played much more International tennis lately and should get the win comfortably. Mai Grage for the title.
I miss Malou too. I still hope she'll turn up now and then, but perhaps we shouldn't get our hopees up too high. Doubles seems much more likely, I guess. She could definetely get a doubles wild card for the Copenhagen 10K if she wanted to (at KB). Affter all, she did win a Danish indoors doubles title with Mai Grage only two months ago. We'll see...
