Re: Clay Season
I missed the match too, but maybe that's good. What a mess
With this serve, she is not going to have a good grass season. The effect of her serve is totally lost since she had to change her serve for her back.

Re: Clay Season
She's not playing on grass next week - she's accepted a WC for Bad Gastein
Why is she playing a clay tournament during the grass season? It's not as if she's had a lot of success on it this year

Re: Clay Season
Extended clay season and it's not like she would have had to start Birmingham from qualification
her part of the draw
(5)Petra Martic (CRO) v Yvonne Meusburger (AUT)
(wc)Barbara Haas (AUT) v Q
Patricia Mayr-Achleitner (AUT) v (wc)Nicole Rottmann (AUT)
Mariana Duque-Marino (COL) v (2/wc)Yanina Wickmayer (BEL)
Nevertheless, good luck!

Re: Clay Season
And this is probably the most difficult clay tournament It's very tough to play in the mountains

Re: Clay Season
Well done!
Once you mentioned it's in the mountains it got me worried, because of the Bogota win I've considered MDM doing better at altitude (though it doesn't really depend on if you're from the mountains, but for how long you've been there beforehand).

Re: Clay Season
Yanina is really fighting with herself in the 2R match. Many, many, many unforced errors and her serve doesn't look good at all. She hit 0 aces, 7 DFs and she has trouble with her service motion. She won the first set 7-6 (4) but Mayr-Achleitner helped a lot. The only positive thing I see in this match is Yanina's motivation, she really wants to win this which is a good sign. We had some lacklustre performances from her lately.

Sad she couldn't win the title but great week for her
Hopefully she feel a bit more confident now.
