Re: Pac 12
@Fantic: Lele was wearing shorts(!) and an orange bucket hat. And I had a good time shooting the wedding yesterday.
@knoxt: she is not in bad shape. not tip top shape but decent shape. My two cents: I think level of commitment and motivation is not the same at the bottom half of any roster compared to the top half, especially for upper classmen. Point being, if Nat were playing no. 1 singles, I have a feeling her fitness would be better. Just my thought. Same goes for V Li.
Breaking news: I was watching the Stanford men play Santa Clara today (great match), but guess who was practicing on one of the outer courts? Stanford's womens team could be awfully tough in Athens next week.

Well, unfortunately, I don't have much to report really. During the Men's match, some of the women took the backside courts to practice: Ahn, Gibbs, Tsay and Herring. As you can see, Ahn was going all out, even hitting jumping overheads. However, don't ask if I thought she was moving well or not, because I was so engrossed in the Men's match, I didn't really pay too much attention to the girls practicing.
I just visited the Stanford website, and I pulled the article below. Interesting b/c I never realized it was injuries to two different legs/feet/ankles.
NOTE: from the Stanford website:
The Return of Kristie Ahn
Wild card. X-factor. Secret weapon. Insert any game-changing, difference-making adjective here. Stanford is hopeful that sophomore All-American Kristie Ahn, who has played in only three matches this year, can return to competition. Ahn battled a right ankle injury late last year that essentially sidelined her during the NCAA Tournament, while a left foot injury has kept her unavailable for practically all of this year. Ahn's mere presence alone can positively impact Stanford, sliding both Ellen Tsay and Veronica Li down one spot in the lineup. Here's the deal: Ahn is a gamer, wants to play and has worked hard in her rehab. If she can't go, Natalie Dillon gets the call at No. 6 and the former walk-on has made the most of her opportunity this year.

Nice photos. I am a bit surprised about the left foot injury and the delay in reporting it until now. I hope she can hold her own on court #4. If Stanford can get 2 points from #1 thru #3, 1 point from #5 thru #6, and 1 point from #4, then they can clinch it, without the doubles point.

Stanford actually has a good shot at the doubles point without Ahn. Gibbs/Burdette can beat any other #1 in the country and Tan/Tsay have proven to be a very good team as well (both teams are 16-1)
Seeing Ahn play Wilson still weirds me out She was always babolat.

Re: Pac 12
Great story about Veronica Li on the front page of GoStanford.com. Did not realize that her father passed away right before NCAA's. She's got to be one of the toughest girls around to have competed right after the death of her father.
Amalgate - did you know about this?

That was a nice story. She must be scary smart, to phrase her own personal review of her tennis at Stanford w/ a "cost-benefit analysis" frame of mind!
Stanford PR Dept must be in overdrive: first the story on Natalie Dillon and now this. I wouldn't mind reading something on Stacey Tan. Just from my observation, she seems to be the most quiet and reserved on the squad.

That is a beautiful story. I'm so glad that it was shared because it is inspirational. I hope and think that Vee will keep the range of human qualities of compassion, toughness and athleticism. Beautiful.
