A doubt: this tennis player have been married or had a double surname? I have found that Corse was her parents' surname, but she had a woman as life long partner.
NANCY CORSE REED
United States
Born 21 April 1933
Died 25 July 2009
|
Corse was a middle name-a good guess may be it was her mother's maiden name.

About Nancy Corse Reed, here I found that her parents were named Carl D. Corse, sr. and Grace W. Corse, so it was her surname.
Nancy lived with a woman, where the surname Reed came from? Another case as that of B.J.Moffitt King?

Re: The Official Married Names Thread
Well I stand corrected Jimbo
I'll dig back into the 50s and see what I can discover. I see only 2 options.
1. a husband
2. Perhaps she is like Martina Navratilova. Martina was born Subertova but took her stepfather's name. Could Nancy's mother remaried? If so it doesn't explain of course why her brother's remained "Corse".

Re: The Official Married Names Thread
From 1951 to 1956 she is in the New York Times as Nancy Corse.
Then a big gap. In 1963 she appears as Nancy Reed. She is usually listed without the typical "Mrs" in front of her name, but I found one reference to her as Mrs Reed.
So she was married some time from 1956 to 1963!
