Active 1922-1928. The New York Metropolitan Indoor is her frist event as Mrs Roeser. Ranked #11 in the US in 1923.
Corse was a middle name-a good guess may be it was her mother's maiden name.
About Nancy Corse Reed, here I found that her parents were named Carl D. Corse, sr. and Grace W. Corse, so it was her surname.
Nancy lived with a woman, where the surname Reed came from? Another case as that of B.J.Moffitt King? http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg...978016&df=all&
I'll dig back into the 50s and see what I can discover. I see only 2 options.
1. a husband
2. Perhaps she is like Martina Navratilova. Martina was born Subertova but took her stepfather's name. Could Nancy's mother remaried? If so it doesn't explain of course why her brother's remained "Corse".
ALLERDICE, “LOUIE” (nee Louise E Allerdice)
Born 5 May 1867
Alive in 1922, when she applied for a US passport.
Married Bradford Knight (1866-16 September 1904) in 1898.
Daughters Mary Tyler (b 12 June 1900) and Catherine Delfore (born circa 1903)
Ellen Hansell Allerdcie calls her “the red haired sister of my husband”. Ellen lists her address as 7819 Roanoke Street, Chesnut Hill, Philadelphia.
