That was an article on WTA site. They probably have it wrong. But the tournament was very successful.
It was Caro's 32nd final. 20-12. That might be one of her worst finals. She lost almost every important point. These matches turn on a few points.
But I think 3 finals in 5 tournaments with 2 titles is what she used to do. With wins over Li & Stosur. So a good ending even with that loss to Nadia Petrova

But its a small thing. Its important she plays the big tournaments as well as possible in 2013. Maybe a draw opens up. Things happen.

Errani & Radwanska were in 2 of the last 3 majors finals, while Caro was barely winning a match.
With the right draw she can make a run like that also

You are so right...good to be top ten, better to be #11 and went to Top Ten in 2013!!!!But it is like it is...

Doesn´t matter injured or not...0 points for her, if she wouldn´t play Sofia stay tuned for one year than...

Yep. That's the only time when she was annoyed - when she was not allowed to defend her title at Charleston and made those comments about the rules were too inflexible.

I'm sure all this talk of what she'll be allowed to play if top 10 compared with being 11 doesn't concern her and she doesn't even think about that. When she plays a tournament - she doesn't think about rankings anyway but trying to win the tournament. And afterwards I think she wants to have earned as high as possible a ranking as she can achieve.

As an aside - my opinion of the rules is to scrap them all where you must and must not play. But if you want ranking points - you have to play at the big tournaments for them. I'd have that the rankings are based on points you get at the 4 GS + 9 PM/P5 + YEC and then the best 2 or 3 after that depending on whether you qualify for the YEC.

But what then was she in your opinion supposed to do? You say that not playing Sofia is not an option because she'd get a zero pointer. So are you suggesting that she should have played but lose on purpose? For me that's not a option. Better to get a zero pointer but keep your integrity. For me it's either not play or play to win.

Unless you're just here for a trolling wind-up, I'd be interested in hearing, what tournaments it is, you think Caro should play, had she finished #11 ..

Re: Danish Delight - Caroline Wozniacki thread - vol 5

I just rewatched Caro playing at Beijing 10. Comparing her figure then to now, there's no doubt she has slimmed down considerably. But there's also no doubt there was more weight behind her shots back then. Other slim girls have very hard shots because their technique compensates for their lack of weight, but Caro's technique isn't among the best on tour. Makes you wonder whether slimming down was such a good idea?

Re: Danish Delight - Caroline Wozniacki thread - vol 5

Huh, I haven't done any comparisons but I thought that the consensus was that she bulked up a fair bit after the 2010 season. Did she gain weight/muscle for the 2011 season and slim down a bit for 2012?

Re: Danish Delight - Caroline Wozniacki thread - vol 5

She's more toned now than she was 2 years ago but she weighs less (in my estimation, there's been no new official weight for years).

I know this is a respectable quality of hers but it also hurts her. And yes, she could have either tanked a match after a round or two or don't show up for the tournament with an injury.

Think of this: Would you think Serena, Vika or Sharapova would have acted like her in the same situation? My guess is no, they wouldn't.

So maybe this kind of stuff is one of the reasons why she's not up there with them anymore, sometimes you have to feel that she's a bit too nice or naive when it comes to this kind of stuff.

I know there's a tendency to ridicule players that skip tournaments or matches in here but let's face it, sometimes it's the smart thing to do. Finishing #11 would have given her a lot of freedom with her scheduling next year, who knows what it could be good for. What if she faces an injury and would need to play smaller tournaments to get back up? Look at Petkovic, being a top 10 player hurt her big time this year..

She robbed herself of a lot of options for, in my opinion, not enough reward. I mean, who really cares whether she's #10 or #11? It doesn't make much of a difference but she paid a big price for it.

Re: Danish Delight - Caroline Wozniacki thread - vol 5

Though a slow start wouldn't doom her, necessarily,I think that a good start in the Aussie swing would probably be a nice, promising indicator of a solid season from Caroline

You're the one claiming it would be so much better to finish #11 rather than #10, so I am asking you, what EXACT tournaments is it, you think Caro should play, had she finished #11?

Your original claim that Caro said, she wanted to play more Internationals, has been proven false.
