Re: Danish Delight - Caroline Wozniacki thread - vol 5
Can we leave Kirilenko praise out of this please. She needs to make a statement about TenisVal.

Which tournaments would these be?
She's now 7-10 (41%) this year against players ranked 11-30. She's also 0-5 against top 10 players (7 match losing streak going back to the 2011 YEC).

This year is a disaster, compared to the last 2. The future is up to Caro. We will see how much she wants it.

You can cut out the GM smileys ..
And you said 'think' .. That doesn't = know.
And that you 'hope', which doesn't = a question.

She's about 1100 points behind Errani. She needs to go deep in all tournaments she plays and hope Errani & Stosur crash out early. It's possible but difficult.

Maybe next year Caro will play Birmingham or S-Hertogenbosch instead of Eastbourne. I'd kind of like that as she wouldn't to deal with the stinking winds at Eastbourne. She's also her 1st match in Eastbourne the last two times she's played so maybe a changeup would be good.

Thats a long way back. Now its been a full year since she won any tournament, and she was holding 9 titles 13 months ago. Defended none of them over the past 12 months.
I didnt understand what she was doing this whole year. Whether it was not using Sanchez(even though he's there & worked with a defensive #1), spending the whole week with Rory before the loss to Safarova, or flying around to UK, Ireland, right before clay season, or not winning a single match for 2 months from late May to late July.
Caro has a rough road ahead, to be anywhere near where she used to be. But it looks like she'd better be dedicated to tennis in 2013 or nothing much will change
The way things are going she'll be better off outside the top 10. Gives her more Intl choices

Re: Danish Delight - Caroline Wozniacki thread - vol 5
Folks, this was a little tough to see(sigh...)---nothing against the improved Makiri, but I'd have really liked Caroline's chances to win that semi w/o the injury derailing her...and,in the final, striving to make history...in a place where fans seem to love and support her....against a tough opponent, sure, but one who also just recently won a title and is at risk of overplaying(perhaps she'd have pulled back somewhat, both psychologically and physically).....Anyway,this just feels all wrong for Caro's NH streak to end like THIS ...the only good that might come from this ugly ending would be if Caroline significantly healed up in the next few days

Here's the YEC race standings after the New Haven final and Dallas final. The number in "()" is the number of tournaments. The numbers after "-" are all of that player's optional results for the year under 200 points.
5 Kvitova: 5031 (16) - one 1 point result, one 175 point result
6 Kerber: 4920 (17) - one 70 point result, one 125 point result, two 130 point results
7 Li: 3992 (14) - two 1 point results, one 120 point result
8 Errani: 3990 (19) - two 1 point results, one 30 point result, two 70 point results, two 125 point results, one 130 point result
9 Stosur: 3072 (17) - three 1 point results, one 60 point result, two 120 point results, two 125 point results
10 Bartoli: 2905 (20) - four 1 point results, two 60 point results, three 120 point results, one 125 point result
11 Caro: 2872 (17) - three 1 point results, one 60 point result, one 120 point result, one 125 point result, one 175 point result
12 Cibulkova: 2217 (22) - seven 1 point results, one 60 point result, two 70 point results, three 120 point results 2286
13 Kirilenko: 2181 (17) - four one point results, one 8 point result, one 30 point result, one 60 point result, one 70 point result
14 Ivanovic: 1923 (14) - three 1 point results, one 60 point result, one 70 point result, one 95 point result, one 120 point result, one 125 point result
15 Vinci: 1900 (23) - five 1 point results, four 30 point results, three 70 point results, one 120 point result, two 130 point results
16 Safarova: 1897 (19) - five 1 point results, one 60 point result, three 120 point results, one 140 point results
Here's the YEC race standings if you limit the results to 14 tournaments. I went with 14 as there are two more mandatory tournaments left in the season and the wta only counts the "best 16" results.
5 Kvitova: 5029
6 Kerber: 4665
7 Li: 3992
8 Errani: 3850
9 Stosur: 3070
10 Caro: 2870
11 Bartoli: 2785
12 Cibulkova: 2215
13 Kirilenko: 2179
14 Ivanovic: 1923
15 Safarova: 1895
16 Vinci: 1840

Re: Danish Delight - Caroline Wozniacki thread - vol 5
The only thing I care about right now is Caroline getting treatment for her injury. H2H, titles, and qualifying for the YEC don't mean shit if she can't play well because of her knee.
