Too many were due to her mediocre-ish play. Yesterdays loss was not one of them though. At least not in my opinion. I'm not saying that Caro played great tennis, but it wasn't poor either.

Also, let's not forget that she already had five sets of tennis in her legs from the previous day. The men in slams usually have a day to recover, and even then they sometimes pay the prize for having played five sets two days earlier. Caroline had to play a match against one of the best players on the tour without having had any time to recover from playing five sets of tennis the previous 24 hours. And on top of that she had a cold which probably didn't help any either.

The difference is that she's fighting for these matches at every tournament she does well.
Caroline is falling behind 1-5 set after set. All 3 against Kanepi at the FO.

Its mental, and she doesnt have it the past year. She might never have it again, like Jankovic.
The mental focus has been terrible the past year, thats why the results are so far below what a long term #1 should be getting
Aga took a long while to find a working balance, and the key protagonists are also different to the period when Caroline was equally dominant.

It isn't just 'mental', her ground strokes had diminished in effectiveness over time, and her mobility also. Fighting alone doesn't guarantee results, and wasting minions as cannon fodder is normally less effective than a tactical retreat. As for match patterns, they have been in flux since i started following her at Junior Wimby. Balance is needed, stability and faith in her strokes, equipment, tactics, and game is needed. Changes take time to bed even if they are misguided. I don't buy the JJ comparisons any more than I do Hingis, or any other unique human competitor. They all get dealt their own set of cards and have to shuffle them as best they can, and Caroline has to adapt to the changing opposition, and Caro has no more control over their progress and tactics than she does over Errani's choice of sport physician. There are NO guarantees in sport, and even less so when your performance alone doesn't determine the outcome of your result.

North American TV coverage in Europe has always been awful at best. Nothing new there.

Realistically, a QF is good here, but given how she was trashed in I/W by Ivanovic and lost to Goerges in Dubai, perhaps we'll have to settle with just a win in R2

I do not see the R1 match with Kiki Bertens on Monday's OOP, so Caroline isn't playing her R2 before Wednesday.

From LS and TV streams, it appears only Center Court has cameras. Well, we know what that means. Hurray for the score updater *sighs*
Sesil aka. Thunder be warned, it might be coming our way...

She's a ball basher then? Would explain the popularity she appears to have among GM people.

Am not trying to pick on you or any other fans,TF66,but your post was the most recent on this theme.

It's almost as if posters here suffer from selective, acute amnesia: Although Serena should be highly praised for her accomplishments at Wimby and the OG,no one here has mentioned that,on slow red clay, she's not only NOT dominant, she's actually quite ordinary.Though she deserves credit for the accuracy of her serves,it's fair to speculate how limited she'd be by the ORIGINAL,one-serve rules in tennis that didn't reward raw power so much...something she was lucky to be BORN with. One could argue that she couldn't go for nearly as much on her 1st serves if there WERE no 2nd serves as a safety net...and what would she do on those days when she's getting outplayed in every other aspect and is bailed out by a single shot that is a benefit more from her DNA than from loads of technical skill??If she couldn't depend on that serve so much to save her,her game might unravel more frequently as it does when she panics and starts venting violently on umps and line judges.I don't find it a co-incidence that she avoids slow red clay as much as possible(preferring the faster green stuff or the Madrid freak show);when she gets easily handled in straight sets by Klara Zakopalova types,it just DESTROYS her aura of invincibility, and she doesn't wanna lose that psychological edge that she has over MOST gals but not all.Graf never ran away from red clay even though she sometimes struggled on it against specialists, and THAT's what places her a notch above Serena...as Richard Williams and even Serena admit...though maybe not for that precise reason

In contrast,I'm not gonna say that it's 'unfair' that Caroline wasn't born with as much raw power, but I don't think the founders of the sport intended for it to be a simplistic slugfest between Karlovics and female 'Karlovicas'.Though I enjoy seeing raw power when I watch the NFL,it's a fundamental part of the sport in THAT instance yet it seems out of place in tennis,IMO,when it's the primary, deciding factor...and I say that despite the fact that one of my faves often uses such an edge.I'll admit that it's a very subjective sentiment from me,but it just feels wrong when a hard-working,dedicated lady like Caroline has little chance vs. a lazy, airheaded lingerie model who was fortunate to be born with physical prowess and who plays only enough to keep from breaching her lucrative personal services contract.I can accept it more when Caroline loses to an EXCELLENT power player;however,I'd love it if she could reach a stage where she normally handled run-of-the-mill BB'ers again

No, that's not the reason for the nickname Thunder. She was found guilty of using illegal substances, and said, that she would come back with thunder.

Whats up with Caro this year, she plays less this season but often looks tired!

bobbychinBobby Chintapalli
Twitter, I informed Agnieszka Radwańska that you liked how she looked at the flag ceremony. Also Caroline Wozniacki looks mighty tired.

She looks tired? She should skip New Haven. Going into the USO tired will be a disaster

I rather hear it from Caro, than The Media which is something that not even Confirm, she might be tired from the long week she had in her last event but she have a day off today too rest
