Exclamation How much longer can Serena keep the NO.1 ranking?

See the huge difference in ranking points between her and Azarenka, how many weeks can she retain the NO.1 ranking?

I don't care as long as she keeps racking up slams and spanking that ass.

Re: How much longer can Serena keep the NO.1 ranking?

I think she will keep her ranking. In a worse case scenario she could lose her ranking by the time the US Open came around only if she didn't defend any of her points, Wimbledon, Stanford, Cincy, and Olympics comes off.

Re: How much longer can Serena keep the NO.1 ranking?

The rankings is now 'been there, done that'..now it's about climbing the ladder of majors. She doesn't need to the rank for that.

Re: How much longer can Serena keep the NO.1 ranking?

Serena is very interested in the #1 ranking. If she defends Wimbledon, then she should hold it through the early part of next year.

Re: How much longer can Serena keep the NO.1 ranking?

I don't expect her to be at her peak for more than another 1 year.

By 2015 you can expect a decline in her fitness and results. She is going to be 33 for crying out loud. She'll still win here and there, but not like now.

Yet now at age 31 she is just about as fit as she has ever been. I have no doubt that will decline over the next few years but 33 is only 18 months from now. I could easily see her still dominating at that point.

As long as she sticks to what she has always done and plays a limited schedule she will be fine.

Re: How much longer can Serena keep the NO.1 ranking?

I already made a thread about this " will serena break grafs record of weeks at #1?" Nobody even thinks she can break hingis record of 200 weeks. JUST WATCH

How close is Serena to breaking Hings' record now? Who is above Hingis in this regard?

Re: How much longer can Serena keep the NO.1 ranking?

She's currently 6th on the list behind, Seles, Hingis, Evert, Navratilova, and Graf.

Evert rounds out the Top 3 with 260 weeks. That's 119 more than Serena has right now.

Hingis is 4th with 209, and Seles is 5th with 178.

I think she could pass Hingis, but Evert.....she'd need to be #1 until late 2015.
